Re: Marquette Rail Santa Train 2009 Schedule

Lets just say that, while the train lost some engine length, it gained some overall train length...at least that's what I understand.

Re: Help with ATCS

As for the Mt. Clemens sub not working, you need to connect to an internet server like the one at Great Lakes live that covers this area. I don't think there is one. There really isn't, unless the CTC-controlled siding at Haven is set up for ATCS, which I kind of doubt. With that location being the...

NS B30 is making a run to Lansing today. Sounds like NS 3058 in the lead. Heard the Dearborn DS giving him a track authority between Wickes and CP-MA a while ago. Headed out there now to look for him.

Re: PM 1225 sidelined for North Pole Express runs

It's unfortunate that none of the Reading T-hogs that are left (2100-2102 and 2124) are currently in service. Those are some of my favorites as well. As far as big steam in this region, 765 is now the lone ranger in the field. FWRHS is running their annual Santa train specials at their site in New H...

Q335 and Q327 met Q334 at Trowbridge around 1:00 or so. Q335 should be near Grand Rapids by now and Q334 near Plymouth. Q327 is currently finishing up its work at Ensel and preparing to head west into the blocks.

Re: The Very Last Pontiac for the U.S. Market

Mike is absolutely right. Especially in the last few years, the American cars are just as nice if not nicer than a lot of the stuff coming out of Asia. I work at a Cadillac and Lexus dealership, so I've been witnessing it first hand. American cars have been a lot better, at least in terms of reliab...

Q32603 departing Brighton @18:40 CSX 500 and I think, 8810 trailing. Yup. Caught them finishing their pickup at Ensel earlier. Thanks csxt4617 for the note about 500 being on the point. :) Also saw G028 sitting at the west end of the yard. Only one unit: CSX 5487. I also saw Q335, with CSX 8701 and...

What is the actual casualty? In the release, they do not state what is actually wrong with the locomotive. Just curious. Here's a release geared more towards railfans, per Trains Newswire and Trainorders.com: http://www.trains.com/trn/default.aspx?c=a&id=5948 Steam Railroading Institute Chief Mecha...

Running. I was actually in the station when they went by and I would have missed seeing them had it not been for their roar.

you dumb cowboy Boomerang...did you notice the first sentence in that quote?? ...If we can’t find anyone to run her... Also, some other indicators have come to light recently... Re: CN Updates 11/22/09-11/28/09

However, a second train, possibly a 766 is just coming thru Lansing and is lined down the Holly at the moment too, so those down the Holly should see 2 trains from up this way. I haven't seen any reporting on this, but apparently CN has qualified crews for DPU operation on the Flint and Holly Subs....

Going back to the original topic... From Trainorders: If we can’t find anyone to run her the 261 will be the centerpiece locomotive for our new roundhouse building project that is currently under development. The last thing we want to do is let her sit in an uncontrolled environment. Thanks for your...

Re: CN 490/491 Symbol Change

For the past five or so years, CN has always had one daily, dedicated set of trains running between Battle Creek or Chicago to Pontiac or Flat Rock. When I first started learning CN's symbols in 2005, they were 480 (Battle Creek-Flat Rock) and 281 (Flat Rock-Chicago). In 2006, they ran Battle Creek-...

Re: CN 490/491 Symbol Change

It was still 490 this morning when I caught them in Detroit. CN's prefixes don't always make sense to me either. The "Q" for 100-series trains makes sense, since those are intermodal trains, but the "E" for the 200-series auto trains has me stumped. Same thing with the 300 ("M" - Long Distance) and ...

Re: CSX MI Train Location Update 11-21-09

Surprised we didn't hear anything about the progress of the rail grinder Thursday afternoon and all day Friday from the Lansing crew. I wouldn't say that CN_Okemos and I qualify as much of a crew. He monitors CN more most of the time. I try to keep tabs on CSX as much as I can, but I've been a litt...
