Re: Hamilton/Allegan Abandoned ROW Q&A

I also have not seen a single milepost on the Hamilton Branch, so I have no clue as to where the railroad starts on paper and where it ends. MP17 is in the middle of the Hamilton branch, located at Fillmore Rd: https://railpictures.net/photo/362100/ Oh my those tracks are MAW quality right there

How did SEIU become a railroad's representative? They specialize in housekeeping and service personnel.

Yes. SEIU

It's generally 10 feet either side of the tracks isn't it?

Such an odd sequence of coverage about a celebrity's death.
Same thing happened with Tom Petty. It was very odd.

Tanya Roberts, 65, American actress (A View to a Kill, That '70s Show, Charlie's Angels). Jan, 3 2021 Not so fast! She's still alive! https://www.tmz.com/2021/01/04/tanya-roberts-still-alive-rep-saying-shes-dead-70s-show-bond-girl/ Sounds pretty dire. Also reminds me of Tom Petty.

Re: SS Badger Sold

The Badger and Pere Marquette 41/Undaunted (and presumably the Spartan) are now owned by Interlake Steamship Co. Interlake has a very good reputation in the Great Lakes shipping industry and is family owned. I see this as a very good thing for the Badger! Detroit news published a piece about it. So...

Re: Where/what is this railroad(East Terminal?)? Actual real question.

I've checked the Surface Transportation Board to see if they have filed to be a railroad. No luck finding anything to indicate that has been done. Being a railroad under Federal law gives you lots of protection from local laws and lawsuits. That's what Matty Moroun tried to do with the Mc Clouth St...

Re: McLouth Steel rail equipment

The only rail I've physically seen lately is what is up running along the road. I'll have to ride my bike by there or try and get my buddy to fly his drone camera around there and see what it looks like now.

Re: McLouth Steel rail equipment

We, called it "Dirty Mike". :-) Took forever to get the engine cleared, ( Brakes & stuff ) ok'd to move. And then another forever to get it moved to Conrail's River Rouge yard. There is a YouTube vid of Dirty Mike moving on its own. I'm sure the tracks on site were in garbage condition before the d...

Wow I'm surprised it's still in that good shape and able to move under it's own power. The description on the picture says it's bound for Precision Locomotive Services in Staunton, Virginia. What do they do there, remanufacturing?

McLouth Steel rail equipment

Now that most of the building demolition is done, what happened to whatever rail equipment that was left on the McLouth property? Shortly after the Morouns bought it there was an old switcher (had Big Mike painted on the hood) that they moved to the northwest end of the property right in front of th...

That pdf says that the King Rd. ramp in Woodaven has no current rail activity. That's not true anymore. They are loading Rangers from Michigan Assembly at the moment. The holding lot there is full of them and we send convoys there a few times a week.

There are more mergers that could happen in the US because there are more available class 1's that could merge.
Especially with their trackage in Mexico. I bet NS would love to get in on that since they serve so many auto plants in the Detroit area.

Re: City of Ann Arbor considering Quiet Zones

I consider myself an independent politically, but I lean slightly to the right of center. AA is so far to the left that it's on its side. Trying to present an opposing point of view to many in AA is more difficult than getting Trump to admit when he's wrong. 28.7 square miles surrounded by reality?...

Re: Flat Rock Yard

The spurs seen in the 1967 map south of Vreeland Rd. are mostly gone now. There's I think only 3 left (hard to tell passing by from the road) and I'm pretty sure they just pulled some out. There's a pile of ties sitting over there that wasn't there a few weeks ago. They have been used very rarely fo...
