Since the Canadian Soo area has barely enough traffic to keep them both busy, combine the AC and the HC into a shortline, that will serve ALL the customers in the area, use the best/shortest route to the nort...

Well, just another example of a large road taking over a small road, maybe looting it, and then dumping it. I know that area of Ontario is a very tough place to do business, but I will never understand the long-range planning that was done by CN, as after 20 years the AC does not fit into their plan...

Is that the loco that hit a road grader some time back?? Seem to remember hearing about it, but thought is was repaired.

Does LSRC have all of it's ex CSX SD50's at this time?? I read where they were to be getting 6 of them, and that they had been getting them as they were gone over by MPI. Just never found out if they got them all.

I know this is a longshot, but does anyone out there know what happened to Detroit&Mackinac RS-2 number 467 ?? The only thing I found was that it was sold to Mississippi Power and Lighting, and I forget what year that happened. I am aware that she is probably long since scrapped, and also wonder why...

Gee-- all the progress, technology and innovations, and we are still wondering why Amtrak has trouble doing what Milwaukee Road used to do everyday,-- behind steam, on jointed rail, in the late 30's and 40's.

I think what I mean is the quality and material of the articles. For example, Trains had a couple of 2 part articles way back on the Boston&Maine that were EXTREMELY well written, and also a 2 parter on RR in New England, that were VERY good. Also have--from 1969--IIRC--article on Detroit & Mackinac...

No----Trains Magazine is a dud because the magazine is no longer near how good it used to be. Same goes for Model Railroader. Have been reading them for about 50 years. The newer mags just do not measure up to the old ones.

The last comment, about Trains magazine being a dud is pretty much correct--same goes for Model Railroader. Used to buy both at the hobby shop every month----but for the last 5-10 years the articles are just not the same, nowhere near as good. Kept most of the old ones, gave the rest away. Not to me...

From an old pic in Model Railroader, there used to be one in Pinconning, on the D&M.

While it's neat that CN is honoring the component RR's that make up its system, all these are going to be new widecab locos, that to me---are just ugly! So thanks---but no thanks.

Well, whatever happens, I hope that it all works out for the locals, the city and county, and the railroad. Employment is employment, and that is a good thing all around. The state needs it.

Oh yes---Campbell Soup. I heard that DT&I used to get at least 20 cars a day from them, and now there are no rails to the plant. A bullseye in reverse.

I do not think the very early car ferries had sea gates to protect the stern of the boats, either.
