Re: GDLK Operations
I saw the GDLK today in Moline while riding my Mini Bike and noticed that GDLK 4125 has a new door going into the cab and a new side panel (both on the same side). I don't know if this has been done recently or some time back just curious what may have caused them to be replaced! Maybe this? https:...

Re: GDLK Operations
Anyone have any idea why the GDLK has so many Auto Racks south of the GR yard? I don't think GDLK serves any car dealers. I can see them from US 131 north of the Gordon Foods plant.

Re: Consumers Energy West Olive.
This would be a great chance for CP to take back their line. CSX would only have two daily trains (not counting Amtrak and the local) when the plant closes.

Re: GDLK Operations
I saw the GDLK yesterday and noticed it had WAMX #4002 as lead power. I have a feeling 4002 is back with the GDLK again. I also noticed in Moline they are adding a fence next to the tracks. My guess is to keep kids from playing on them (park is next to the tracks). If you saw WAMX 4002 leading a Gr...

Re: GDLK Operations
The crossing at 144th is done (as stated before) and all ties are replaced. All work is done in Moline for now. The next thing Grand Elk will do in Moline is replace the crossing just north of 144th. They planed on doing it this year but covid changed things around so they did 144th instead. Next ye...

Re: GDLK Operations
The construction at the crossing at 144th st has started. It will be closed from 10/12/20 to 10/16/20 and the detour will be the road just north of it. Please be carful using the detour because its in a small town and lots of kids play in the road or near the road. They started replacing ties on Sun...

Re: PM 18 Found
I thought the boat with the gold sank earlier and sailed out of Frankfort so wouldn't it have been a Ann Arbor boat that sank with it? Either way for the naysayers there is a tv show on the History Channel about it. Its fascinating. Yes it was an interesting story. They had found a bar of gold, but...

Re: PM 18 Found
This is the ship that had a boxcar full of gold bullion stolen from the confederacy at the end of the Civil War from down south that was brought up to Michigan. Its also said that it was one of the five cars pushed off the ship. The guy that stole it was Benjamin Pritchard from Allegan Michigan and...

Re: GDLK Operations
New update for 144th St in Moline MI.... They have dropped off more ballast (now two truck loads) at the crossing. There is also about 50 ties about every 100ft or so from 142nd to 144th St. Also they have been cutting trees and bushes along the track at 139th St crossing. Hopefully they start doing...

Re: Steel Industry socks, layoffs
They are still expecting more ships to go into layup. This is effecting the steel and coal industry a lot. This also isn’t helping Interlake Steamship Company with the new ship they want to build with American steel
