My Dream Railroad
I know I might get laugh at for how stupid this idea is. But I plan to go to collage for business, and work for a railroad to get some experience, and I plan to own and operate my own railroad, this railroad would be called the Cadillac and Northern Railroad. This line will stran the old Annie line ...

What Happened to the Coast to Coast? Michigans possible only commuter line that could work
So it’s been almost a decade since the state proposed a commuter line that would be revolution, a coast to coast line connecting Michigans Lower Peninsula biggest population, economic, and capital centers, but since then, there’s been little news, only one study, and only commuter line in Michigan t...

Re: GLC RR
Appears our wiki doesn't yet have the train symbol info for GLC: https://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/Great_Lakes_Central If someone wants to add it there, please do. Found this list from LansingRailfan from 2021: CNTN - Cadillac North TurN - everything north of Cadillac including when they go to...

Re: GLC / AA Merger WHAT IF
This is a very big what if question. This is not a rumor or a plan or anything like that. If the GLC and AA were to merger, how would this change the operations of the railroads? I can think of only 1 substantial change that would occur and that would be the CSX-GLC interchange at AnnPere would see...

Re: Future of the Plymouth Sub/Grand Rapids Sub
Looks like a great Mystery Science Theater show 8) I think a high speed rail corridor or any type of passenger train service between Grand Rapids and Detroit would probably fare slightly better than NBC’s 1979 TV show super train. Note: The series was on for less than one season and was an abysmal ...

Re: Study Time....again - A2TC commuter rail project
Its a shame we don't have any worthwhile mainstream news outlets anymore. I'd love to see a high profile news article looking into the amazing incompetence and dishonesty that keeps rolling this proverbial turd of an idea down the road. I think this is the closet one. https://www.michigancapitolcon...

Re: Study Time....again - A2TC commuter rail project
Almost as amusing as the naive A2TC proponents is the ongoing anguish expressed on this board about it. Chill out people. Money for the preliminary and final studies is infinitesimally small compared to the billions spent on other transportation projects in Michigan. And if by some fluke we do end ...

Re: Study Time....again - A2TC commuter rail project
Well right now the A2TC train is a big boondoggle BUT once we are forced into electric automobiles and IF they run the trains to actually serve all the people a train is a good idea. 1. Train has to run daily. Both directions. 2. Need a special car to haul snowmobiles/ATV's at a cheap rate. 3. Trai...

Re: HSR to Michigan? HSR alliance news
This looks to be about a 10 year old article. The route to Detroit makes little sense and acquiring the land to do any of this will doom the project from the start, not to mention you are missing huge existing Amtrak markets. Fort Wayne does not presently have service, but . Their map seems to show...

HSR to Michigan? HSR alliance news
So I saw an article that the High Speed Rail Aliance and a few government agencies like MDOT are thinking on making a HSR line from Chicago to Toronto. Which in Michigan will go between Toledo and Detroit. Here is the article. https://www.hsrail.org/220-mph-high-speed-rail-midwest

http://www.marp.org/?page_id=29 this is a map from the Michigan Association of Railroad Passenger. Of the states vision of Passenger Rail. It also include the Coast to Coast line, A2TC, and extension to Petoskey, Detroit to Bay city, Detroit to Port Huron, GR to Kalamazoo, and Detroit to Toledo.

Re: Study Time....again - A2TC commuter rail project
Hey, next year they are doing public meeting along the line for people so they can get excited. So I see a lot of rail fans going to these to crap on these people.
Honestly with the money they spent on this. They can get a train from GR to TC and rebuild tracks on the White pine trail.
