Re: West Olive coal train question
Please don’t. The crews already have enough going on while they are trying to move engines around out there without having to worry about someone being out there with a camera making a video while they are working. Not to mention the possibility of getting a crew in trouble if they do something tha...

Re: St Joseph, Mi Swing Bridge Going Remote
It is my understanding that the bridge tenders at St. Joe hold seniority positions as clerks. The clerk position has been eliminated across CSX (at least in the northern region) and as such they are legacy employees. They will remain in their job until they retire and when they do so, their position...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - May 2024
The "Plymouth Sub" crew comes from Grand Rapids. Their only task with the train is to take it from Plymouth (Either Beck Road/Northside Pass or Lilly Road) and put it away. It rarely doesn't make it from Plymouth to Webberville unless something fails mechanically. The hoppers were loaded in Onida S...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - May 2024
In the pipeline is a B23528 for Webberville. Crew called at Garrett to take train to Walbridge, then will need a crew to Plymouth. I’m still confused about why these potash trains take the long way around. 4 crews needed to get it from Chicago to Webberville and that’s if the Plymouth sub crew has ...

W034-28 @ 14:17 westward reported from the Defect Detector mp CG91.9 St Joseph, Mi with 128 axles. CSX engines #4057 + #2428 & 29 MoW cars (28 loads + 1 empty) @ 3,216 tons & 2,356 feet long. I don’t know how they came up with “28 loads + 1 empty.” The work equipment flats had no equipment on them,...

Did 326 go through Porter already? M326-11 @ 17:30 is at Grey mp 82.8 setting off 20 ish MOW cars. M326 passed Porter at 14:30 (4:30pm ET). A bit of clarification to avoid confusion down the road: 14:30 is 2:30PM 16:30 is 4:30PM M32611 did not go by Porter at any of those times. It went by Porter a...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - April 2024
Some of you guys are probably too young to remember the boom years of 2013-2015, but we were running some absolutely massive trains up here back then. Q327, Q334 and Q335 were consistently over 200 cars. My record was 237 cars on Q335. You are correct. I didn’t get trains in 2013-2015. Largest M327...

Re: Lake State Radio Question.
Hello everyone, been a while since I've posted here. I was wondering, is Lake State still using VHF or have they gone digital (800 mhz)? I thought I had read a while back that they went digital, or were going to, but not really sure. I'm up by Grayling and wouldn't mind listening in on switching if...

Re: Holland Railfan Meet 7/12/23
Speaking of Landon -- QUIT PUTTING GOPRO CAMERAS IN THE GAUGE OF THE RAIL. (Yes... we can see that kind of stuff sitting in the gauge of the rails.) I talked to Landon and he said he will stop LMFAO… yeah you talk to him railfan isaac… that’s like the fox guarding the henhouse. Someone who’s friend...

If I’m not mistaken was not CSX #3201 just recently serviced? You would think that would include checking and topping off the radiator but that’s just me I guess. Re: CSX Train Location Updates - February 2024
Note: CSX engine #6549 has a camera mounted mounted inside the cab and Y121-14 has a conductor in training as part of the crew this afternoon. I’d venture to say any of the refurb engines from the last 5 years or so have inward facing cameras. Very few CSXT road locomotives don’t have them at this ...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - February 2024
Wiki Well that's not current, I guess. Z283 is a Lima, OH originating train for the CSX system. Not really sure if HNW even gets a train symbol, as they don't come out onto controlled track. Similar to the GRE not getting a Z-train symbol anymore. BA9BF0B6-4AF2-48F9-BA60-CA94D3E31AB1.gif Z283 is in...

Re: Holland Railfan Meet 7/12/23
Saw a post in the chatbox saying "Aw man, Landon canceled the Holland meet up in May, again", but when I check the Facebook event, it says that it's supposed to happen at 10am on Monday June 10th 2024. Which is true? https://www.facebook.com/events/1290296191657109/?active_tab=discussion Can't say ...

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - February 2024
Only one would be a trainee. The other 2 would be a Mentor and the Foreman working the job. Interesting two of them are wearing orange vest and this is a crew that I normally do not see assigned to Y121. Conductor/Foreman wear orange for their first year after qualifying. Just out of curiosity I lo...

19:35 - G804 west through South Lyon. Green Oak DD at CH39.1 said 372 axles. G804-27 went to Webberville with all CSX cars. Crew had it spotted by 23:30. 3080 + 4710 on the head end. 4710 should have been a new rebuild YN3c repaint as this unit was on the list for 2023 rebuild. Could not see the pa...
