Re: Point to Point Layout
My layout is an around the walls type with continuous running possible. But When I operate, it is run as a point to point operation. I rarely use the continuous running option. There have been a few times when I am operating solo that I have added an extra loop or two to add miles between towns - en...

Re: GLC Updates January 2018
This traffic is supposed to average around 30-40 cars per month and goes to a mill in WI (last I heard). However, when the new mill in Grayling opens these chips will probably be diverted to there and will go by truck. Who ships or unloads the wood chip hoppers in Cadillac? Wood chips are loaded an...

Cherry Growers - Grawn
I included Cherry Growers in Grawn as an "active" industry on the MIGN layout. I made a cardboard mock up version in one of the corners of the layout inspired by Kelly Countryman photos from the photo Gallery. Here is a pic of the mock-up: http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/11076/thumb_C...

Re: Cherry Growers in Grawn has shut down
TC-Man: that would be most helpful and appreciated! I will post a pic later this week in the model railroad section showing the cardboard mock up I started a few years back for Cherry Growers based on the couple of pics in the photo gallery. That assumes I can relearn how to upload photos. Thanks Bill

Re: Cherry Growers in Grawn has shut down
Well in that case, I have been hoping to model that building for the basement layout and may not get up there in time to take pictures. Does anyone have pictures they can post of the facility? I have found a few of them in the photo gallery of this board but more would be helpful.
Thanks, Bill
Thanks, Bill

MIGN Layout Reopened -- Wanted HO Scale:
Just finished dusting off the layout in the basement after ignoring it for many years. Good news is that everything seems to be working well and it has been fun to revisit operations of the MIGN north of Cadillac. It is also good to be back on the Board - I have spent too many hours visiting all the...

Re: MIGN Layout - Cadillac Industries
Layout Progress Update: Progress has been slowed due to more finishing of layout room (wall work, cove lighting and lots of paint). During this time I have been expanding the freight car fleet with strategic purchases through Ebay and have been filling in the Cadillac Industrial area (about 25 feet ...

Nice Layout and pics. It is nice to see finished scenery (mine is woefully lacking). It looks like a nice location to sit back and railfan!

Re: my WC roster grows!
Nice Rosters Gentlemen,
I would model the GBW or WC if not for the MIGN/TSBY.
For the GBW, probably the Wisconsin Rapids area, the WC- Wausau Area.
If I had to choose......GBW - I like their Alco's.
Hopefully you put your rosters to good use.

Re: Getting Started with Construction
Good Luck Dan. The plan seems solid - especially lighting and ceilings before the layout - I did the reverse and it was a pain and took a lot of extra time. If you are limited in time, you may want to reconsider building your own turnouts. At first, I built my own with purchased frogs and it took wa...

Re: MIGN Layout - Wexford Sand
Wexford Sand (now Sargent Sand) is actually near Yuma which I believe is on the former Ann Arbor line between Cadillac and Frankfurt - I am not sure if the MIGN operated this segment, but TSBY did and GLC does. I have incorrectly located this north of Petoskey on my layout for added traffic. There h...
