Re: Ann Arbor railroad Mow work

And the GLC is doing work on the Traverse City and Williamsburg branch now. So does that mean it's preparing for CSX to buy the line back? HAHAHAHHA.

Re: Traverse City track work

Yep, I agree AARR. I'm just spkaeing of the RA/GLC rumor- way out there in left field expecially when a CEO knows nothing about it, LOL. GLC392 put that one to rest though.

Re: Traverse City track work

He is who actually told me about this site earlier this year. I've been reading before I started posting every now and then. Have talked to the CEO of a well know railroad every now and then also. And it' sinteresting to read the rumors that are totally untrue after talking to said CEO. LOL. I'll po...

Re: Traverse City track work

I know John from back in the GT Dinner Train days (he was a mechanic). Last I talked a couple months ago he was moving to Livonia (where he was from). I have seen a train once a few weeks ago, it was two center beam loads and a RailBox. Looks like the have been doinf pretty good business since the n...

Re: Traverse City track work

Armond Cassil (or somehting like that) is the contractor working in TC. Ballast and rail so far from what I can see. Equipment working between the tunnels and north.

Don, you have disappointed me- no irrelevent posts on this subject? You'll never achieve 1 million posts if you keep this up.

Traverse City track work

Always a good sign to see track equipment and workers in Traverse City working on the really bad section along Keystone by the animal pound and Goodwill Inn areas. There was a large old, old, old high rail dump truck (looked like a ballast truck), and some odd-looking no-idea-what-they-are track mac...

This is not CSXT, but there is a train in Traverse City. Well, probably in Williamsburg by now. Only heard it coming into TC from the south. That is all.

Re: Any news/carloads to TC over past few weeks?

2n centerbeams (WC) and a Railbox a couple weeks ago. Like KC said, GLC stays until centerbeams are unloaded, but not fo rthe box cars (take a lot longer to unload I guess).

Busy 3 hrs in Durand this morning

Was in Durand passing through this morning. 6 trains in less than 3 hours! One even had a BC Rail (#4105) engine. Don, who says Durand isn't busy???? Stayed at Ann Arbor while visiting the U of M hospital and saw AA late Friday night coming south, and a long Amtrak on a track that went under the AA ...

Re: Why no transload in TC?

My dad worked for Chef Pierre (that's what Sara Lee plant in TC was before Sara Lee bought them out). He unloaded covered hoppers of flour, tanks of corn sweetner, and tanks of amonia (for the freezers). That was in the 70's.

Re: Why no transload in TC?

Did anyone see on michiganrailroads.com the photo from Friday of GLC delivering 3 cars to Amerihart (the new customer in Traverse City/Bates? The GLC crew shut down #389 and helped unload the two centerbeams!! Now if that's not service you can only get from a shortline/regional, I don't know what is...

In Clare, the two lease units brought north about 30+ LP tankers, and at least 3 or more lumber cars headed up north to I imagine TC?

TC John, be sure to get photos! have you ever tried to find GLC in Cadillac and follow them to Yuma or back north? You could always still by your old friend the GT Dinner Train! It's still for sale!

Re: Interesting train in Traverse City

I looked at them today, all the cars appear to be junk. Hoppers missing chutes, some labled "home shop for repair- do not load", all look like they are waiting for the torch. A couple still have the NS horse logo on them.

Re: Interesting train in Traverse City

TSBY former Ann Arbor double door box cars, WSSX hoppers, GLC hoppers, TSBY hoppers, and strangly, two even have the GLC marks painted out on a couple. Strange. And it just had to have some excitment coming into town: http://www.9and10news.com/scripts/image/resample.aspx?w=320&h=216&q=85&p=1&f=/imag...
