Re: CSX MI Train Location Updates 8/1/10

COol you are listening in Trnwatcher. You still hosting your feed? Someone PMed me the other day asking if it was still up, and I can't seem to connect to it. But yup, the feed does get some great range most days. And take it easy TTAM, rare to see two X200's in MI in one day, so easy it is for peo...

Re: I've never seen this before

As Matt said, it is not unusual for a coal drag to get bogged down by the southwest wye. It's also not unusual for a following train to be requested by the dispatcher to cut their power off at Lilley Rd, proceed past the red, and push the coal drag up Salem Hill. I watched that happen many times in...

Re: I've never seen this before

Ok that makes more sense. I swear those cars were empty but I guess they may not have been loaded to the brim. First time I've ever seen that.

I've never seen this before

So last night, I'm driving thru Plymouth to a buddy's place and I see there's an empty coal train stopped off the South to West wye in Plymouth (train came from the south, wyed west up toward Lansing). What happened next confused me. 2 dash9's came up to the rear of the cut, hooked up, and started p...

Re: Either have a chance?

I'm thoroughly confused.

I went from a rejection of undersharpened:
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject. ... =892750101

To a rejection of blurry:
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject. ... =322782123

I sharpened the second one.

My question is: What?

Re: Either have a chance?

So even if I played with the lighting and make the full nose visible, no dice? That's never the right answer - it comes out looking pretty obviously photoshopped and won't fly on rp.net. You simply can't create sun where there wasn't any by using photoshop. Besides, why waste that much time - just ...

Re: Either have a chance?

They're cropped way too narrow...... Can't make them any wider, that's the full picture. Even if you made the cropping better, neither will make it. High sun, along with half nose light. So even if I played with the lighting and make the full nose visible, no dice? Also, this got rejected for bad c...

Either have a chance?

Hey guys. I went out and took some pics with my new camera today (thank you, insurance company) and want to get your opinion on a couple pictures before submitting them. I think I missed "the moment" with these two trains, but figured one of them might be ok to get through. Story is: one train heade...

Re: Need railfanning suggestions

Yea I know about the diamonds and everything and I've tried going out over the past couple days but have either gotten there 5 minutes after a train went by or had to leave 5 minutes before another one came. Really wish I had my scanner up here, but I don't. I figured if Durand was a good spot, may ...

Need railfanning suggestions

Hey guys. I've decided tomorrow is going to be a railfanning day for me, as I'm done with my last final at 2pm. I go to Michigan State, and my question is this: Should I go to Owosso, or Durand? AND Could you suggest any hotspots in whichever city? Thanks guys, appreciate it. Also, if in the wrong f...

Re: Camera Ideas

I HAD a Sigma 24-70 and loved it. Great lens for what I used it for and the price I got it for. I would also highly recommend the 40D. I had that as well (if you haven't seen my thread about it, got stolen) and had no issues with it, very user friendly.

Re: Help needed, although probably futile

And this is why I have insurance on my camera equipment. The price of insurance is a drop in the bucket compared to how much I'd lose if my camera gear was stolen. I do too, but since it was stolen at school, not at home, we were told that the claim would not likely be approved since it didn't occu...

Help needed, although probably futile

Alright guys I hate to put this up because these kind of things never end well, but here we go. My camera was stolen out of my car last night. Don't ask how, I haven't a clue. I locked my car (as I always do) and there was no sign of forced entry. You're just going to have to take my word for it. So...
