Re: Fostoria Rail Park
I'd wager to say if they did close F tower they would shorten IP's territory to end at Fostoria or Galatea, and perhaps give the Willard Terminal Sub to another dispatcher, too. Maybe IO. When all the DIs were still in Jacksonville, most shifts the Willard Terminal and Willard Subs were two differen...

NKP still gets 30/day? Boy when I was at Oak Harbor last an awful lot of symbols ran via Sandusky. Crew availability has been an issue in Bellevue and Fort Wayne (and Elkhart, Toledo, Cleveland, Conway, etc...) lately, so some things have been running totally off the wall as far as routing goes. I ...

Yes. It's totally routine for them to hi-rail it periodically as they still own it. I believe it's an FRA requirement.brc0227 wrote:A couple weeks ago a bunch of the division heads at NS hyrailed the peavine from Vera to Plum Run. Any of you heard anything about this?

Re: NS increases traffic on former Nickel Plate line
I knew this story was going to come sooner or later. Not to take "their" side but something to think about (novel concept): I wonder just how many of those residents lived there 15-16 years ago or did they move since? I haven't lived in my house for 15 years. If so, living near a line with a sometim...

Just clarifying -- this is the Chicago dispatcher in Ft. Wayne that also dispatches the former Nickel Plate west of Ft. Wayne as well as the Marion Branch. Dearborn hasn't done dispatching on the Ft. Wayne Line in a long, long time.alittlevanwerty wrote:NS Chicago line dispatcher handles Mike Tower and west.

If you're referring to where the IHB goes under the BN, then there's just a narrow strip of grass between you, the busy street and the IHB.BamaSubdivision94 wrote:How so?

The over-under at Lagrange has crappy access. I think the couple of times I was there with my family a long time ago we parked along Burlington Ave. I hung out at several Metra depots, not always as a Metra passenger, and never had issues. Even saw a Metra cop at Downers Grove and I don't think he g...

Consumers are opening their wallets wider, forgoing Big Macs and Whoppers for the pricier patties and customizable burgers they find at upscale burger joints. McDonald’s U.S. sales declined 3.7 percent in August, its worst decline in more than a decade, caused globally by food-safety issues and sag...

Re: best radio skip you have ever gotten when railfanning?
Earlier tonight from Deshler I was hearing a bunch of stuff on 160.800: NS Chicago East conversing with trains west of Elkhart (as well as the train's side of the conversation), a Conrail dispatcher, CSX IG DS, trains calling signals on the CSX Indianapolis Line and O.S.S. talking to B05 (one of the...
