Does Big Boy still associate with Frisch's (or Elias Bros, Azar's, Shoney's etc.) anymore. I know when they didn't associate with Shoney's it allowed...

been making a lot of stops at Steak and Shake on my way home from work for her. Their fries are sometimes 'iffy' but they're steak burgers are good. Practice Safe CSX At least from my experience, they don't salt the fries when you get them at the drive-thru. But there are few other places (none cer...

Re: Waterloo Amtrak Shelter
Any problems trainwatching at Waterloo? I stopped there briefly, twice on the way north from Florida to Michigan. No Problems. I plan a longer stay in the Waterloo/Butler area in a few days. Just wondered what the trainwatching situation is there. Perhaps an allnighter. The only problem you may run...

No class Is in Zanesville since the Central Ohio Sub changed hands from CSX to Ohio Central, and that's been 10 odd years now.

The Chilli Sub (and the entire Transcon for that matter) is closer to 70 a day. May be a bit busier west of Galesburg.

There was a washout around Hudson (south side of Cleveland) this week and they're just beginning to catch up. Still lots of single track and dead trains. Holiday weekend and autorouter don't help either.

As CG notes, what are often erroneously referred to as "New York Central signals" are formally known as "Type G" signals. They were also seen in quantity on the Rock Island, Southern Pacific, and Western Pacific.

Most of the signals are from when the New York Central put in CTC. I don't have an exact date other than late 50s. There aren't any significant grades on the Chicago Line.

Re: busiest freight route into chicago
currently what is the busiest freight route into chicago? It's gotta either be the UP Geneva Sub or the NS Chicago Line, especially with the oil traffic boom. And it's Mendota. I do believe it's NS Chicago line as when i went to the BNSF Racetrack nothing came through for a good hour. Small ...

Re: Fort Wayne to fund high speed rail study
Also keep in mind that Amtrak fought tooth and nail against estabishing Bryan as a station stop for the Lake Shore, and likewise was against Defiance as the Lima replacement when the Broadway was moved. (Fostoria as the Lima replacement was a typical Amtrak Piss Poor Choice as well - but Amtrak and...
