Re: Lake Orion branch operation observations
I crossed the Lake Orion branch today on Josyln Road. I also passed by the GM Orion Plant. The GM Plant has really expanded with the anticipated electric car builds they were (not sure if they still are) planning. If the rails to the plant were reactivated, it would be a large project for sure. As I...

Re: CN Train Location Updates Sept 2024
Hello. If it is possible, can someone please provide location updates on 251 today, as well as 507/508 and any other trains on the Holly Sub for this afternoon?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Anyone know if Yuma Sand will ever start up again?
Have been wondering this for a while now.
Thanks in advance.

Re: CN Train Location Updates - August 2024
So then technically we have 2 Sand Trains right?
S750 and S756, or will it be only one train, just a difference in where it originates?
Thanks in advance.

Re: CN Train Location Updates - August 2024
Southbound 116 by Linden around 2:30pm with brand new CN 3998 solo and 115 cars. First few cars are tanks, followed by loaded racks, and stacks for about the last third of the train. I caught him crossing Lahring Road just East of Linden. With only one locomotive and 115 cars, I'd say he was only mo...

Southbound "Rack 'em and Stack 'em" 116 by Linden at 3:16pm. You guessed it - racks followed by stacks. Sorry, didn't get a count, but a good sized train.

Re: Shortline Train Location Updates - July 2024
7/30/24 - 6:28am - On the way to work this morning, Southbound Lake State train at Grange Hall Road (just North of Holly), was led by Lake State Engine #6435 with a very loud horn, followed by a CSX engine (didn't get that engine #), and 94 cars total. First 37 cars were autoracks, then a mix of mos...

Re: 1st Autoracks for Gaylord
Before this thread gets locked, I would like to offer a positive perspective that I hope we can all agree. Lake State has created new business. How long that business lasts, how profitable it may be, how sustainable, is anyone’s guess, and that to me is secondary. What is primary is the here and now...

Hello LRF.
What is a Q137 in terms of origin/destination?
I assume this is a reroute?
Thanks.

Re: First Autoracks to Gaylord Michigan.
Absolutely this is important. Any new rail related business, especially up North, is essential in keeping these lines going. Those that have voted "no" on why autoracks to Gaylord is not a big deal, I would be curious to ask why they think that. Do they think that just based on a feeling, or can the...

Re: CN Train Location Updates - June 2024
Hi LRF and all, How bad was that washout on the Rainy Sub? I'm hearing a lot of water problems in MN on the news, but can't find any news articles on the CN Rainy Sub washout from June 2024. There are plenty of articles on previous washouts, but not from the one that apparently just happened. Wonder...

Great story GAP!
I recall a long time ago meeting you at Vicksburg! I don't recall if it was our first face to face meet, but it was back in the late 90s anyway.
Great place to go, even to this day!

Re: CN Lake Orion Sub - The end finally???
I think if there is any hope at all, GM Lake Orion is really going to need to produce a large quantity of vehicles, and be sustainable at that level for the foreseeable future to even have a chance that rail service will return. Significant investment will be required to restore the line North of Fe...
