Re: Passenger car on tail end of NS 38E - Transformers Movie
I also found this posting on another great forum Detroityes.com "renf - posted Sept 5, 2010 Two weeks ago I spent a night at a railfan bed and breakfast in eastern Pennsylvania. I met a man there who had putchased three used passenger cars from the Long Island Railroad for use in Transformers 3. He ...

Re: Need help tracking an S-3's past
Hmmm......I admit confusion lol. Where is this silver stack? The stack on 317 here (the black one) is all black with a rain stopper on top like on a semi. There is a photo of ETR#101 in my gallery with a long silver stack. Is that what your talking about or am I oblivious to somethibng right in fron...

Re: Need help tracking an S-3's past
Thanks ns8401!
This engine is NOT turbo charged, which tells me she's an S-1, but we've also heard she was re-engined at somepoint.
This is the problem....everything we've been told about her is rumour!

Re: LSRC now off limits
shorthaul is right, nobody deserves the harrasment because of this. I can't totally agree with that. One person can surely screw things over for all of us who try to abide by the rules and get hassled because that person has done wrong. The other side of the coin as I see it is to ostracize him fro...

Re: LSRC now off limits
With railroads locking thier gates to railfans because of all these homeland security rules, you would think those people responsible would thank their lucky stars there are still RR's willing to let you fart around their property. shorthaul is right, nobody deserves the harrasment because of this. ...

You're quite welcome. Making sure those pictures worked probably wouln't have hurt either
The "beauties" I spoke of were Milwalkee (sp? lol) Road skycars I think they were called. They were orange and red.

Re: MYSTERY HISTORY II
God I hope you're wrong CTR. You're probably spot on though. I thought it would be a good plan to just close off the tower. Replace all the windows and the roof leaks in the tower, rehab what NEEDS to be done in/out of the tower, leave the first 4,5 or 6 floors for office or hotel space, and then se...

Re: MYSTERY HISTORY II
I'll go with W. Vernor and 17th looking south easterly. Those should be St. Anne's steeples in the background.
This is MCS. We're looking at what would become the Vernor underpass.

Hmmmmm....maybe she doesn't qualify for this discussion lol. She was of the ridiculously busy Detroit river variety. Built in 1884 and scrapped in 2007 I think. Here's a couple pix: http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpics/11308/lansdowne_paint2.JPG http://railroadfan.com/gallery/albums/userpi...

Re: NS Starts new steam program!!!
Very sweet news! I can see where shorthaul is coming from about the image of being a company who doesn't mind pollution when running a steamer. BUT....I think what it does more for people is make them think travel by rail is , an elegant, sexy way to travel. That alone can boost ridership for compan...

Re: Favorite Great Lake Carferry and why?
Mine....although a far cry from the ships like Badger, my favorite is Lansdowne. Not the barge version either, back when she was a side wheeler. I'm not sure what it is about her. I think her name has a lot to do with it, and the fact that she had survived for so long.

Thanks for the welcome everybody! It's good to know there are folks nearby who might be able to sell or rebuild some parts if we need'em! Do you guys know if there's anyone else from Windsor/Essex county on the board?
Thanks again, it's nice to be here!

Hey everyone, I couldn't find anywhere to introduce myself, but being in Windsor I figure this is where I'll settle in. Appologise if there is somewhere to do this, I imagine I breaking some rule somewhere. I love railroading but I'm limited in experience on things like terms, who's going where and ...
