Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

So..... interesting info, went by Hallow (Hollow) yard and there are 15-20 tank cars set for interchange with JAIL. I'm basing this assumption on the fact that there are another 10-12 tank cars sitting in Saginaw yard of the same make type and age. They are all chemical or the like (some none toxic)...

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

Anyone have copies of the STB documents that were linked to in this thread? I tried to view them but the site says internal server error... maybe temporary but it seems like those docs are off the web.

One big happy thread!
Thank you, thank you!

Re: Jackson & Lansing Railroad.

This is the second thread on the JAIL, they need to be merged by the admin, please. Firstly: Reporting marks are not J&L, they are JAIL. Secondly: there is no more NS local, gone, now JAIL leased and operated by the Adrian & Blissfield, ADBF (which owns JAIL). Thirdly: Date of start was split into t...

Re: CN train hits pedestrian at Van Dyke

There was a fatal pedestrian train accident on the CSX in Lansing this past Saturday. I heard that he(?) was just walking down the middle of the tracks, crew couldn't stop in time, and he didn't hear or was not cognitive that there was a train.

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

@ Dan, Nice photo, what image quality is that raw? high enough for a screen saver?
Does anyone have a high res shot of the ADBF geeps (perhaps on Lansing secondary) that they would share? Looking for a nice desktop background.

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

Don't know about the signals in Jackson, but from what I'm hearing, and have gathered on here, JAIL is tying up the two units at the siding behind RSDC in Holt; which is the smartest place, as there are no public roads for trespassers to gain easy access. It also places them close to their two main ...

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

Went to vote and saw them at QD plant on MT Hope/Washington at 15:00hr went back by after voting at 15:30 and they were either gone or back in the spur behind the plant. Having a cold, didn't think to check the spur from Washington perspective. So... I drove down following the line to Holt, couldn't...

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

Daylight work: at 12:30 hr today they were switching the box plant, then the mason elevator, headed SB.
Buddy of mine from Mason gave me a call at that time with the report. I was sleeping, I'll try to get daylight photos soon!

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

Not trying to stir things up, but this is a rail fan site, maybe a new thread for union matters would be good? What's done is done, and I for one would like to focus on the positives here! For the communities of Jackson, Leslie, Mason, Holt, and Lansing a local (MI) business is good. I do however un...

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

Yah I really hope they do set up in Lansing, the photos of GP9s with steel coil cars, and there is a park right next to Saginaw Yard, so great for photos!

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

Look I'm just skeptical of them starting up "whole hog" out of Lansing right now, which has the only facilities to accommodate. Holt Yard, trackage in Mason, "north cavannagh" Yard, Hollow Yard, Ensle Yard.... Not one of those has enough room, facilities, or physical plant to be that base, SO... Sag...

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

@ chessiefan

As I read the documents I don't think the yards or track to industries would be reserved from the deal (what kind of a deal would that be? sort of look, but don't touch) why would they have interchange rights with CSX?
Are you thinking of the "Lansing maufacturers railway"?

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

Hmmmm interesting, this could mean two things. One: ADBF hasn't taken over operations yet (they have until the 16th to handle ops) and it is a NS unit run by NS crew. Two: ADBF has taken over and is running out of Jackson (basically duplicating NS's operation of the route) leasing NS power in the in...

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

From the way the setting is for the Lansing Secondary, it would make more sense to have their "hub" in Lansing because NS owns the yard in Jackson which JAIL would just interchange traffic with. It would make sense to have their base somewhere towards Lansing as the yards are located up there such ...

Re: Jackson-Lansing Railroad

I don't think we'll see anything yet as they have until the 16th to start operations. ADBF may lease power from NS as most (what would now be interchange) traffic at this point is coming north from NS via Jackson... I don't think that given the patterns of operations that they will base locomotive u...
