Re: Lansing Industrial Loco
Hold on!!!! before this gets too far off topic.... A: Eckart is running on old tech. better to update it. but first get our money's worth out of it. B: New plant IS co-gen. Natural gas only. both electric and steam loop. much more efficient. C: petroleum companies with Nat-gas & fracking, still not ...

Re: Lansing Industrial Loco
Interesting, since Eckart's days are numbered and the replacement will burn natural gas. Yes and no, Eckart, which at this point generates both steam and electricity, the steam generation will go off line in a year or so after the new co-gen plant is put online. However, Eckart will still be produc...

Re: CSX locals between Plymouth and lansing
Yep I'm wrong, thought I might be. Lots of great information on here, thanks guys! Glad to know that the job based out of Lansing is still around, I thought that if they started running out of Plymouth, customers might get T'd-off seemed like a long way. Was this "recalimation site" a factory tear d...

Re: CSX locals between Plymouth and lansing
I think that they got rid of the Lansing based job last year, I think now a local from Plymouth turns at Lansing and a local from Grand Rapids does the same and turns at Lansing.
I'm no expert on this line or operations... I'm just thinking back to what I (might have) heard.

and he claimed that they have 5 different operations. I know about the original (i.e. the ADBF), the DCON (Detroit Connecting), the Lapeer Industrial, the JAIL and the job up in Charlotte, I'm pretty sure that my counting skills still work, and I count five. ADBF DCON JAIL CHS LIRX I also have no i...

Re: Lansing Industrial Loco
Mr. Cameron(GP9R), nothing personal... I just got a little ruffled by how you said what you said, I didn't realize you literally set it off. Sorry, if you say its going to BWL then i will trust that it's going to BWL. Thought it was just a haughty rail fans hunch, you know the royal "we"... by the b...

Re: Lansing Industrial Loco
I have corrections and additions:(to myself) Mike the lumber goes to Universal Forestry Products north of Snow yard or Mid-Michigan Fabrication north of Meijers dist. 1207 may still be destined to be owned by MVPX which is BJRY which handles switching and such (website: http://www.bjryrail.com ) per...

Re: JAIL schedule
I expect that they'll stay in Mason for the time being, A&B might fix them, they might not. There was talk awhile ago about JAIL receiving two more 15-1s from LTEX, but with the "down turn" in traffic i think that remote possibility was Sh*t-canned. As it is A&B have a bunch more 9s sitting on home ...

Re: Lansing Industrial Loco
The Unit is still in blue & white stripe with CI rail logo. Was sighted in Cory Yard Sunday evening, along with a cut of center-beams loaded with lumber. This is the yard servicing the GM plant. While it could be supposed that the unit was sent for the GM plant, why would it be tied to a string of l...

Re: JAIL schedule
Both Geep 9ers have had electrical issues... between traction motor problems and internal power plant problems. As A&B have finally figured out the most efficient way to run the railway(this includes not running thru absolute stops), two locos are enough. no need to run the 9s when the 15-1s do fine...

Re: Air turbine recording
@ M.D.Bentley - I don't know how long I would need but as I have nothing yet, any length will do(I'll make it work). I plan on editing it for looping.

Air turbine recording
I'm looking for a recording (that can be looped) of an air powered FRED (aka ETD) or just a recording of a similar small air turbine. need it for a project. .wav or .mp3 file type would be nice but really anything will do, as I haven't been able to find squat yet. Thanks!! Ps: any other forums that ...

Close is close, not perfect. So there maybe damage, are we talking things you're okay with damaging? Like athearns, or bachmanns with p2ks? Then run um, but if we're talking atlas with kato... or atlas chinas with atlas rocos... Ahhhh, I wouldn't, period. And another point, while the difference in a...

@ raildudesdad, I think you assumed correctly, I would think the same thing. I don't know if they ship by rail(exclusively) in the winter... I'll have to ask a friend who follows the LS&I. Does anyone on here know?

Re: New Coal Movement for LS&I in UP
@Raildudesdad, the problem up there is the freeze, snow or rain or just condensation from the warm pellets can freeze lumps of load to the car side, even with vibration.
