I could say the same about earlier posters.
There were assumptions made there as well..
Consider this free advice. Don't get trapped in the financial interest black hole. I'm just sayin'
Don't feed the banks.

Re: Resort Northern Arrow
Hey, If you want to defer a few months of mortgage payments to ride a train, join the forclosure crowd I guess. I was just saying that there is a big LACK of affordable excursions for the average joe. In todays "Credit" society" it is BRAINWASHED INTO THE CHILDREN" that they "NEED CREDIT". I have a ...

Re: Resort Northern Arrow
Bill O'Reily is irrelevant, and so is Todd Cline's statement. Thank you for your service but frankly it does not mean a thing when compared to a couple being able to afford a $4000 vacation which is NOT that extravagant. And THAT is the perfect example of the younger generation that doesn't underst...

O.K. JT, enough. I want you to look at this and READ IT. http://www.nationalhomeless.org/factsheets/veterans.pdf
Did you ever earn the "ruptured duck"? Did you put your life on the line for your country?
I'm not homeless now, but I've been there. I doubt you ever have.

Re: Man walking on trestle struck by CSX train
I'll go out on a limb here and say that only one person could provide all those details you are asking for, and he is dead. Todd But somehow they surmised he was taking a short cut (which is completely absurd if you know anything about the area). Someone knows something and WOOD TV has failed to fo...

Last train to Morenci Mi?
Been gone a LONG TIME, but anyone know when they last ran to Morenci? (not sure if I'm spelling that correct). Was it Lenawee County RR, or ADBF?

Re: CSX Chessie System Painted Cabooses
I know this might be just a bit off topic but in the late 1970's the Traverse City run always had a "wide-vision" caboose still in full C&O paint. We used to camp at "Healy Lake"( just north of Kaleva), every year back then. It was really neat. Train went right by the campground. Usually GP-9's or 3...

Re: Resort Northern Arrow
Well for all of those that earn $300+/hr. "Bon voyage". For the rest of us, guess we'll just have to fill up our cars with $4.00/gal gas and try to follow. As I said at the start of this thread, How about affordable excursions? Somehow this got sidetracked into how much a burger costs in an "Amdinet...

I'd choose the train over Disney anytime! But, as I said earlier. Just too rich for my blood! My next door neighbors are taking Amtrak to California this fall, round trip, sleeper acc. and all, for less that this trip!

Or should it be called the "One percenter special"? Hey, I'm all for a rail tour, even more so in our great state of Michigans "North Country". But $1899.00-$3399.00 PER PERSON????????? Yes, I realize these trips are from Chicago/St. Louis, (Amtrak 90% of the way though), but how about us locals? I'...

Re: Man walking on trestle struck by CSX train
It boggles my mind how a news outfit like WOOD TV can post a small blurb about the death of someone and then not have a follow up to the story. A guy just doesn't get hit by a train and it's shrugged off as an accident. SOMETHING put him there and I want to know. Maybe I'm overly interested because...

Re: Abandoned Michigan Railroads
Someone mentioned the Little River RR. I was a member there when they were in Pleasant Lake IN. back around 1979 or so. The 110 was just freshly rebuilt for the first time. The track was lousey, but it was a lot of fun! We stalled out a Fairmont motor car just south of Angola one day and 110 showed ...

Re: Abandoned Michigan Railroads
Yes, the line to Paw Paw was really fun in the 1990's. They had a dinner train, not my idea of fun, but they also ran a sightseeing train where for an extra couple of bucks you could ride in the caboose. Everytime we went there we were the only ones in the caboose. I suppose the rest of the crowd wa...

Re: Benchwork Question
Are we dealing with a rental place where we cant do a lot of drilling/modifications, or are you just trying to keep the footprint to a minimum? Two entirely different game plans here depending on the situation. I know, I've done both.

Re: Benchwork Question
Like AC said. If you are worried about the weight of the layout compressing your carpet, I would do the metal stud framework with a pink/or/blue foam base. Depending on where you go, ( I'd try Menards first). sometimes those galvanized sheetmetal studs are cheaper than the equivilant wood 2X4. This ...
