Re: Ever been hassled while railfanning?
CSX_CO you just don't understand what I was saying. I never meant to imply the cops did anything out of the ordinary or wrong, just that experiences like this might leave a bad impression of the railfanning hobby, compared to say knitting or flying radio controlled airplanes. So ease up with the lec...

Re: Ever been hassled while railfanning?
Why is a local cop doing a checkup 'enough to leave a bad taste in your mouth'? I don't have any problem with the cops doing their job, I was just referring to the totality of the experience relayed by Crow T Robot as far as being hassled goes, and mostly the part about having a gun half pulled on ...

Re: Ever been hassled while railfanning?
Wowza. That's enough to leave a bad taste in your mouth. I have a feeling its only going to keep getting worse too. I used to like to sit in an empty lot by the CN line through Cassopolis, MI and eat lunch until I was leaving one day and a guy in a plow truck pulled in front to block me in and proce...

Ever been hassled while railfanning?
Unless its your first day I'm betting the answer is "yes", I thought it would be interesting to hear others experiences on the subject. It ranges from suspicious stares to cops being called and verbal confrontations, maybe worse? I personally hate drawing attention to myself in any way, but if you l...

Re: Light thru the viewfinder
If that is the case I wonder why they give you a viewfinder cover for use when using the self timer? The manual says that light coming in through the viewfinder will affect the image. The mirror keeps the light from the lens from hitting the sensor and redirects it to the viewfinder until the moment...

Light thru the viewfinder
I have a Nikon D60 and I was wondering how much affect light entering the viewfinder has on pictures. I wear glasses and so when I put the camera up to take a picture light can "leak" in the viewfinder around my glasses. I can take my glasses off and then the eyecup seals out the light but then I ca...

Re: Where is this??????
It is the old Michigan Central Air Line (so many RRs named Airline!) Three rivers to Jackson section, ripped up in the early 80s. The Niles to Three Rivers section was ripped out in the late 30s I believe. I found a picture of the Fairbanks Morse Factory from an old business directory that was only ...
