Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
I can view your photos vwwillie. I've seen those two CR shots before, Dr. Brown used them in his Cincinnati Northern book. Keep posting vintage Van Wert shots, I enjoy seeing how things used to look.

For those asking about when the Pan Handle mainline was ripped out, it was in 1985.

Re: Q-132 this evening
Just as a sort of heads up, I've heard from extremely reliable sources that MORE trains will be running up and down the Toledo Branch as CSX uses it as a "detour" or "alternative" route to alleviate congestion and keep the North Baltimore and Fostoria areas fluid as possible. This is why you guys ha...

Re: Some HO street running
Do a google search for Warsaw, IN photos, they have a nice stretch of street running trackage that is still active today(plus its part of an ex Conrail line!). Good luck with your layout sir, as someone else mentioned, the world can always use a few more Conrail modelers

Re: Turnouts at Hoytville
Speaking of Hoytville, I've heard a RUMOR that CSX wants to buy out the entire town of Hoytville so that they could expand the North Baltimore terminal in the future. Anyone on here know if there's any truth to it? I personally rate it one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" rumors.

WOW! Sturtevant sure has changed a ton in the last 11 years! The last time I was there was in July of 2000 and the old white depot was still located across the tracks.

Re: Trip to Milwaukee, 10/22/11.
Jeff that shot of the SOO 4438 was probably the unit they are using for the Sturtevant Patrol, the local train based there in town. I'd also bet that the rusty caboose you saw is used by the local train as well. My friend worked for the CP back in the late 90's briefly and worked on that job a few t...

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...
Beal99, the yard in Lima PW mentioned is the old Conrail Cole Street yard. There's also the Decatur Secondary that splits off at Adams(just east of Ft. Wayne, between Adams Center Road and Hartzell Road) and heads down to Decatur, IN to service the large Bunge plant(ex Central Soya). This lines norm...

Re: Marion Question
I have ate at the Shovel several times while in Marion and I've got no complaints about their food or service. It may be a little pricey depending on what you order, but at least its trackside and you can leave your car parked next to the depot and walk there

Better hope the school district doesn't see your photo or there's gonna be a bus driver looking for a new job. In Indiana, a bus driver caught doing this will be fired and have their commercial bus license revoked!

How about Frank Frisch? I know he railfans around here; not sure of the make of his vehicle though, I saw him recently, I seem to recall it was a small vehicle like that. Chris The last time I saw Frank(aka "perfectional photography"), he had a dark colored Ford Ranger but of course that was severa...

As someone who has operated on layouts up here with Digitrax, Lenz, and Easydcc, I would go with Easydcc if I was building a layout and wanted a DCC system that was simple and easy to use.

Have you guys given any consideration to renting the depot at Waterloo, IN? Its $107 a day to rent and the only caveat is to make sure its cleaned up when you're done with it. I voted for Butler as that's only a 30-40 minute drive from my home
