Re: PRs in Iowa

I think DT&I had the IAIS, but since he no longer participates with the PR group, that one is available as well.

Re: Fort Wayne passenger service floated, again

The thing about Fort Wayne is it isn't big enough to NEED transit options. It is not Chicago, it is not Boston, it isn't New York. If you want train service, petition AMTRAK to put a train back on. You don't 'need' 120 mph railroad to be 'hip' and 'modern'. Not this second, perhaps, but how does on...

Re: Some op session stuff

Is that the operations road show layout in Saline? I've operated on it once, great layout that really captures the feel of central Indiana and for those that don't know much about TT/TO this is a great place to learn about it.

Re: Railroad in Put-In-Bay/ South Bass Island

I have some old railroad memorabilia from the Lakeside & Marblehead that I purchased from a guy at one of the last Toledo shows a couple years ago. I can't remember his name now(I think his first name was George), but he was the expert when it came to information about this obscure operation.

Re: Fort Wayne passenger service floated, again

They have been using that term "high speed rail" for as long as I can remember. Even I know that if this proposal ever gets built(and you won't convince me until I see the first train running on it) it was going to be higher speed rail and not the high speed rail they have in the rest of the world.

Re: Detroit and Western Railway

I can only talk about Cold Springs to Cincinnati as the Maitland to Cold Springs segment is owned by Genessee & Wyoming's IORY. If you get GWI to sell you Maitland to Cold Springs(which is only being used for car storage right now), I will be happy to sell you the line from Cold Springs to Cincinnati.

I read the list and don't see a yard at Ottawa listed, perhaps the guy took your suggestion and removed it :?:

Re: Non-Local Shows (if you're in Michigan, that is...)

Another good show in Ohio is the NMRA MCR Div. 3 show at Hara Arena in Dayton, OH which is on Nov. 2 and 3 this year. Lots of vendors with a good variety of all scales represented and plenty of those one or two table guys who are looking to unload stuff.

Re: Fort Wayne passenger service floated, again

The only thing I see CSX wanting from this group to use the old PRR ROW is for them to pay up the money to buy it outright. I haven't looked at this study to see how they plan to get from Columbus up to Lima but I don't see CSX or NS allowing them to use their tracks to get there, which probably mea...

Re: GR to Kzoo Route State Plan Question

Why on earth would they want to route a train up the GR&I from K-zoo to Grand Rapids? Is the state seriously considering this idea? They have lost their mind if they are. First lets take into account that a connection track has to be built at BO Tower for them to even get onto the GR&I off the old M...

Re: IORY South End Part Five

Today after work I spotted a move on the Urbana Sub, it was CFE 3887 pushing a bunch of old covered hoppers(looked like 2 bays with CLSX reporting marks) straight south of Maitland and the rear of the cut was almost underneath US 68 on the old Erie when I crossed over it. Not sure if they were addin...

Re: IORY South End Part Five

Today after work I spotted an I&O train going under US 68 at Maitland heading east toward Springfield. Looked like the Urbana Sub local(lots of covered hoppers in the train) but not for sure and no I did not see the power but it looked like one or two units from the brief glimpse I caught of it.

Re: Conrail Historical Society Marion Rail-BQ July 27th

Well the food issue has been settled. Apparently the society grill got "bad ordered"(aka its broken) which is why they are not bringing it this year. So instead they are going to provide fried chicken, potato salad, and such for lunch instead of grilling out.

Re: Conrail Historical Society Marion Rail-BQ July 27th

Just a reminder that this event is two days away now! In a late breaking development, I was informed today that the society will NOT be bringing its grill to the event this year. They plan to do something for lunch, yet to be determined, and dinner will be on your own. They will however still provid...

Re: Great Lakes Transportation Holdings, LLC

If I was a real railroad investor I wouldn't go anywhere near the MM&A because if you buy this line, you inherit their liability and will be on the hook for all the lawsuits that are going to be filed after the wreck. But hey, this is the fictional world of paper railroads and you can choose to igno...

Re: A section of the Old Road is being taken up

If you go by the scheduled trains in my old PC ETT's, they had 4, 691, 692, 693, 696. The 693 ran Hillsdale to Sturgis and 696 was its return trip to Hillsdale, and the 691 ran Sturgis to White Pigeon and 692 ran White Pigeon back to Sturgis. This info came from Western Region ETT no. 5, dated Janua...
