Re: Gibson City
The CN local is the L554, it's turn out of Clinton running up to Gilman and back, daytime. Used be M-F, although rumor has it that its counterpart from Clinton to Springfield is down to M/W/F, so it might be on a similar thrice weekly scheduling.

Re: Mingo Junction railfanning?
Your chances of seeing a train within you time constraints are pretty slim in Wheeling, Washington and Morgantown. They're there, but less than daily. If you want to go snipe hunting, the Federal #2 and Blacksville coalmines south and west of Blacksville,WV are fairly busy, originating most of the t...

Re: Joliet Station
The IAIS used to run west from Blue Island after the evening rush (6pm-ish), and east after the morning rush (11am-ish). There's also a CSX turn that used to run west in the wee hours, you have a chance of seeing it return before the morning rush on the ex-RI trackage.

Re: NS WVSecondary in Athens
The 380 is notable because it needs to back up out of Watkins onto the Secondary, with the conductor hanging off the rear.

Re: TP&W Schedules
At least as of two years ago, the schedule for the road trains was east one night (MWF) and back west the next (TTSa), with Sundays off. The afternoon yard shifts builds 'em and they leave around 9ish. You may also get to watch 'em arrive in the following morning's sunlight. In East Peoria, you ough...

Re: IAIS in Peoria
The way that I understand it is that the local is much more common that the unit trains. When the IAIS local comes down from Bereau, a TZPR shifter will run up from "the hump" to meet it at a siding on the northeast side of town, under the HWY 150 bridge, and the two will do a little dance and head ...
