Just a quick question. Isn't there a planned commuter rail system for Detroit? I read somewhere there was going to be but haven't heard anything new lately.

Very interesting video. Is that the same Ann Arbor station in use today? No that station is now the Gandy Dancer Restaurant, the new station is on the other side of the bridge and is an early 80's Amtrak design. I, personally don't think Amtrak will end. There's just no way. There would be no country wide train service. If I'm not mistaken, Amtrak was only formed because other rr's that provided rail service went bankrupt/split up. Yeah sure, there's still passenger service, but it's only commuter i.e. Metr...

I did. I rode the Wolverine from Dearborn, MI to Chicago and back. The ride was fun on the way there, but on the way back was just a nuisance. Norfolk Southern placed 20 mph speed restrictions on many parts of the Wolverines route. So a trip that should've taken about 5 hours ended up taking around ...
