Exactly but usually it's used as a conection point acrossed the river bridge and turn-around for the coal trains/cement cars and scrap cars and fertilizer cars . Sometimes there are a few cars but mostly empty unless the train is in town. Neat place to see switching

Anyone seen the coal trains on HESR yet ? Thought it was posted they had the contract now. As of yesterday the 2 wrecked cars from the coal train wreck were still there and the building it hit has been condemed and will be torn down

If they needed to get those cars moving south out of Bay City they could pay HESR to take them to Saginaw and hand them off at Saginaw Yard as they can interchange there - there by bypassing the derailment site and getting traffic flowing but it's a cost thing. Was over there today and the track bed...

They also dumped one just after the bridge and before the junk-yard in downtown Bay City but it was a while ago. Seems to me this is why the western coal is coming in by boats to Bay City when possible. They use 2 1000 footers out of Duluth. A sight to see

One thing I would question is how much demand for the product is really there in this area and what would happen to the current use of the plant as food and fuel don't mix. Sounds like another "what if " just like the Bay County plan for the old Dow stuff on Wilder Rd. Good idea but won't fly....

31 loads in tonight train on HESR around 10pm ? didn't watch time

When you go past the building the tracks are on the opposite side of the road on the mainline no siding around it so it would be very difficult to use rail
