Lake State Radio Question.
Hello everyone, been a while since I've posted here. I was wondering, is Lake State still using VHF or have they gone digital (800 mhz)? I thought I had read a while back that they went digital, or were going to, but not really sure. I'm up by Grayling and wouldn't mind listening in on switching if ...

Re: slide scanner recommendations?
Hello GAP! For slides and negatives and basically anything from photos up to 120, I recommend the Epson V600. I have a large collection of Great Lakes Maritime slides and pictures and those 600's are a true work horse! They are a few years old by now, but you can get them still relatively cheap. Not...

LSRC Gaylord & Alpena Movements
Hello Everyone! It's been a while since I've been around (a few years). Life gets in the way sometimes don't it? :D I was just wondering, when movements are usually made on the Gaylord and Alpena branches. With some time off still remaining, I am hoping to get some shots in while I can. I haven't st...

Re: Holly Sub. Been away for a while.
Robert, I totally agree that the 1990's were the "Good Old Days" on the holly. I looked at Your pictures and I must say very well done. Seeing those CV units brought back some memories. I remember in the late ninetys there was one or two that sat in the yard at Pontiac for quite a long time. I alsO ...

Re: Holly Sub. Been away for a while.
Yeah I remember the 489, 490, 501, 451. It always seemed like there was an oddball numbered train that headed out of Pontiac every morning. It usually had 60-70 cars. It might be the 489 but I could be wrong. I always had the scanner going and every morning I'd be awaken by the tones bout 7am and th...

Holly Sub. Been away for a while.
Hey guys & galls! It's been a while since I have been on, been busy out on the water. Was just wondering if anything new has been happening on CN's Holly Sub? I don't make it to Waterfor/Pontiac much anymore. It's been about 4 years actually. Used to set up the shoot at CP west Pontiac and catch at ...

Re: Sunken Trains
Infact there are a few trains in lakes. In Bear Lake by Lewiston Mi there is an engine that went through in the logging days. In Johannesburg lake there is a engine that was purposly ran into the lake and also in east twin lake there is an engine and a few cars at the bottom that went through the ice.

Re: Her last visit to Manistee (freighter)
I had the chance to work with Algoma wich was a very rare instince and I would have been assigned to the Algorail. But I passed up the oppertunity to work with Interlake. When I got fed up with the stuff that went on there, I signed on with American Steamship. I do wish I would have taken the chance...

She was there at the dock when the lines cast off and the Fitz got underway. The sun shone down as the wake trailed out on that cold November day. When she wrapped her clouqe over ship and crew, when the winds began to roar. Every man aboard tighten down their souls, far from the michigan shore. McSo...

Just saw the news and they said he drove around every body and through the gates where he ran into the train.
