+1. I don't see what the draw to football is. Hockey is much more entertaining.SD80MAC wrote:My prediction is that I won't be watching the NFl. I'll bet I'm right.

Re: ns heritage units: who has seen them and who hasn't
Caught 8114 yesterday. That makes 20, but I've only got pictures of 18 of them, and I want to shoot 9 of those again to get them leading in the sun.

Re: CP sells DM&E west end to G&W
So 5300 carloads last month. 5300 x 12 = 63000, so assuming this was a fairly average month they will be about 10000 carloads per year over expectations.

Re: CSX Locomotive Roster News, Updates & Information Thread
I don't think NS would trade the SD40s they keep buying for some POS SD80s. The reason the NS ones work okay is because they keep them around the old Conrail shops where there are people who know how to properly maintain them, whereas CSX more or less let them roam free and gave it maintenence like ...

Set up for some shots this morning. Lots has been done, green paint to go under the ground foam, and some ballasting has been done at Cottondale. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5589/14729201880_ab649eaa7f_c.jpg FEC Panhandle Sub by lego-studios34 , on Flickr https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3904/14912...

Took some of your advice tonight and went for another pan shot since the only shot available was backlit. How did it come out?

Re: Atlanta, GA Railfanning
See the Savannah,GA thread from June 9th But the point earlier was that Savannah really isn't that close to Atlanta. Georgia Central does run to Macon, I believe on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but I don't know the times. Macon is a little over an hour from Atlanta. I've never gone down there and...

FEC 104 Cottondale by lego-studios34, on Flickr
FEC decided to only run one train tonight, 141, by combining trains 119 and 143. This led to an awesome FEC - FEC - NS - CofG consist. Downtown Cottondale, FL exiting the yard.

Re: Ho Scale NS 6920 WIP
I guess I'm kinda caught in the middle of SD80MAC and Brent on this one. I really enjoy taking a basic stock model (bachmann, train line blue box etc) and detailing it up, but I really hate to take a good expensive model and try to add more prototypical details for fear of screwing it up. I have th...

Re: Ho Scale NS 6920 WIP
My question is was this cost competitive with the 3D printed version. At the end of the day you still have a lot of man hours detailing both, but with the 3D printed version I would assume you have less time spent actually sculpting the number boards, nose, and cab door. I would think it would save...

Quick progress shot on NS 6920 tonight. All the decals on the engineers side are done, with the exception of Micro-Solling them.

Re: The Slow Death of Kmart Continues
All this talk about RadioShack gives me something to laugh at you northerners about. We've got a store down here called RomCom, in Rome, GA. They have double the stock of RadioShack at a quarter of the price. But the guy at our RadioShack is nice, he'll talk about electronics, electrical engineering...

Re: FEC Panhandle Sub West End
_CREQwKrnN0 First we see FEC 220 rolling down the street running Cottondale, where it will terminate at the yard. It is taking the siding, and 131 will meet it shortly. Today's 220 was an interesting train. It was assigned the two SD70s but the only freight was the one boxcar that is seen on the he...

Re: Atlanta, GA Railfanning
Dont go to Folkston. 6 hours from Atlanta and you will drown in foam and Gevos. Its already been said, but go to Austell for NS and Marietta for CSX. Probably 50 a day in either place, more variety on the NS. Dalton is good also. Probably 50 a day there, on NS and CSX at the diamond. If you want mou...

Not trying to be a turd but do you understand the correlation between shutter speed and F stop and what those terms mean? We are here to help if you don't! Yes, I do. A faster shutter speed means a wider aperture (lower number) at the same ISO, slower shutter speed means a smaller aperture if ISO s...
