Re: GLC headin' to TC on tuesday
Does a Cadillac crew still make the south turn toward Alma at night these days, or does a crew come all the way up from Owosso or whatever? Cadillac crew makes a Clare (or Rosebush-Alma depending on work and time) 4-5x per week. Owosso based crew works north to Clare. Do they meet & swap, or just d...

Re: RailRoadRumorMill. Up and running.
Here's something to add to the AA part of this equation: They are getting a new unit, a former UP/MKT/CR/PC GP40, now reclassed as a GP40-3 and numbered as 1337 that was overhauled and repainted in yellow with the elongated shield logo by LTE. This may be just for general service but I can't imagin...

CFE's newest engine is at the north end of CSX Lima yard by the old state pen. It is South Carolina Central 6415 in all it's GT glory. PW GT is an understatement. While sitting in CSX Lima yard, this unit is actually not far from home. She was built as DT&I #415. Ol’ Hank would be proud, let’s get ...

Re: MQT Info
Trainmasters as conductors you say? Yes, that's how we do things on the Marquette. My honest opinion, if more trainmasters did conductor work more often they would have a better dealing with the train-crews. Some might disagree, but how can you manage someone if you have no clue what they do out in...

Re: MQT Info
Now would that count as limbo time if by deadheading I am driving myself in my POV? Our safety/rules guy who does all of our tests says the 10 hour work, 1 hour each way travel time. Brakey, if that’s how he wants to word it, that’s fine, at least it works to your advantage & it’s within the law. T...

For what it’s worth, anyone ever seen that really neat GE 2-motor at the elevator in Clarkfield, OH. It’s painted just like the W&LE locos.
The owner/manager told me back in 2006 that he likes that scheme and wanted it to match the railroad that serves them.

I think I read Thackery did some track work to load 15 car blocks a few or more years ago :? Rate difference between 15 and 65 car blocks must be pretty significant if they'll truck it from Thackery to location where they can load into 65 car blocks rather than just let both elevators load their ow...

That is actually a good question. We have the same problem on the Elk to a certain extent of our on call weekends. My regular reporting point is Grand Rapids, so anytime I get called to go work a grain train and report in Kalamazoo, I am supposed to by law get an hour of drive time to Kalamazoo, an...

Today I saw the NOW. It was a train. Blue engine with cars. They were going somewhere. I'm back. Don't they have a blue GP10? I cant remember but glad to see you're back.@ Used to have a teal x-CNW GP7, but that’s gone. Was one of their first engines. http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?i...

Re: MQT Info
The same crew doesn't take the train every day.... Well, how exactly does that work out? There are specific rules in the Fed Register and those in the Hours of Service Act that say a crew must have a regular sign-up point. Now I know the MQT has had a number of visits from the Feds, which is also p...

Bout time! Our local pools are going to be royalled...um...yeah. Will have to add turns or everyone will be in federal requirement. ......Bridge that is. The Utica Industrial track is surely doomed now that the Clinton river washed out the bridge north of M-59, nothing but track hanging. Could you be more specific as to the location of this branch? Endpoints? Railroad(s) who serve it? Not all of us are from Michigan, or h...

Re: Adrian and Blissfield and railfans
Well, I guess we're splitting hairs here for conversation's sake... there never would be a sidewalk allowed to be installed if it were too close to the track to be safe. Is this safe? Surely the sidewalk is MUCH closer to the tracks than 50 feet...or even 20 feet for that matter. http://i2.photobuc...

Re: Adrian and Blissfield and railfans
There are a couple of places in Port Huron that the CNPD will escort you away, even if you're parked on the shoulder of the road waiting to get a picture of a train. With all the chemical traffic they have through there, they don't want to run the risk of anyone doing something terrorristic, I gues...

My lips are sealed. Why even post then. Probably because he wants us all to know that he knows something (as if it matters), but he’s not willing to speak of it. I wonder if the old Amtrak RS3m is the same one I saw in Huron, OH many years ago? I did not realize the CC&O NYC painted one pictured ab...

Re: Track Authority Questions
Mr. Tops brings up an interesting point about signal indications into Track Warrant trackage. I know for a fact at Haven, you get a clear into the track warrant territory. I think this is interesting. I think this is most likely so that if a train doesn't have to stop at Haven, it can continue movi...

Re: Track Authority Questions
The only thing they will do to speed up running agaist the current, is give a train two permits, one from I074 to I050 (Ben to Pence) and then one from I050 to I036 (Beecher) and once you clear Pence, you give that permit up and then the guy behind you can get his permit. Our permits are always bet...
