Re: CSX GRE MQT Train Location Update 10/19/09
Dok Wrote:"Why do I spell PERHAPS as PERAHPS all the time? Why FRIST instead of FIRST? Freudian problems?"... I can't even describe the frustration of working with engrs that never learned more than the four basic handsignals that are in the book. Fer chrissake! I can call lunch to the hogger from 1...

Re: CSX Location Update 9-19-09
There is a huge tie gang working between Wellsboro and Nappenee. The assests are in place for a speedy recovery and as of last night o'dark thirty of the 21st, speed is 25 mph though the derailment site with all wreckage re=railed and gone. Nothing to see here... move along...

NFW would the animal house be an acceptable solution for me but.... They shut the water off in the campground Oct 15 and I am in the same waters as rob. I am looking for a roomate "situation" close to BI 128 with someone that is stable/not alcoholic/suicidal also. Actually, a house is an option too....

Re: CSX MI Train Location Update 8-27-09
Typhoon... I have lived the life of running the CSX/CPR jobs for well over a decade. The info I have is from people that actually still listen to the CSX/CP conference call every morning. As of just a few weeks ago they had decided to run the trains via Garrett since they always have to be recrewed ...

Re: CSX MI Train Location Update 8-27-09
Zack, The CP has a contract for 1000 cars a month through GRR for another couple of years. The new "pissing match" between CSX CHI mgt and CP Calgary is once the grand is reached, the cars run NS routing to Winsdor. I think the CPR wants out of the GRR route and are making things "difficult" to nego...

Re: CSX MI Train Location Update 8-26-09
Well Dok... No job in GRR. They done killed it just right. I hope for massive manpower shortages in DE/GW/GE/GT-land should traffic accidentally pick up some how. Back to Garrett for me, where they run trains (not on purpose mind you, it just happens). 29' of fifth-wheel (with 2 slides)(probably nic...

Be prepared to wait a while. There are well over 7500 furloughed in T&E alone system wide on the CSX right now. They 'aint exactly looking for people. Try RailAmerica. Seriously. If you don't have a preference on where you live or the hours you work, RA will provide some experience. The advice of a ...

Rodger that.
As a "rail", I really don't need the exposure.
What I do is what I do. Names and locations of "what I do" can only get me in trouble.
Most of the time I don't wave so not to screw up your pic.

I don't wanna be the $6 gas champion but... It makes rail/inter-modal work. It makes team tracks make sense. I makes a warehouse sound better to the bean counters than "just-in-time". All good for us rails. If I am running trains, I can afford to commute. Boats shipping cast iron from third world co...

Re: Tornados and Trains
I had a twister pass over my locomotive (STLH something) while running through Pullman westbound a decade a go or so. ENGR and I wondered, Do we stop and cower in the nose? Keep going and see if we stay on the rail? Lost a ditch light and the ENGR's mirror to flying debris. "spatcher came on at abou...

Yeah, come-on there Zack! Enjoy the goodness of the CSXT 2639 (fans in the cab, loads good and hard for a kick and so forth). The yard jobs will still be shuffling about today/tonite (think 16:00 or thereabouts). Scanner channels for wyo yard jobs = 70-70, 53-53 and 12-12 for the one man deathtrap (...

I've been on trains with 2x2 4400ACs and stalled. Stalled with half and no pushers too many times to count.
Always fun since weather is usually a factor in the stall.
Gotta go to Garrett today (restday) to check on my camper!

New buffalo on on the CSX GR sub is a prime example!
New lights on both ends, Continuous welded rail installed in the yard tracks.
1982 IIRC.
Abandoned, totaly OOS, in 1984. Now used to store scrap railcars and junk (with the west end tore out).
Yep, Class ones will spend a dollar to save a dime. I live it.

Hehe... bad track.
SMW and myself made a joke on a very interesting/exiting trip one winter in the 1990's where some one said... In six feet of new snow... We will know if we are on the ground if the ride smooths out...
Heh.

Doc... Yes sad.
I just marked up in the yard fresh from CGGA-land and am sad to find that I left in April to come back in mid-July to the same mess.
ReRun be-gone (poof).
