Ns roadrailer times
With the triple crown roadrailer service coming to an end soon, I'd like to head up to fostoria and catch a few roadrailers before they are gone. Does anyone know the approximate times one could expect the roadrailer trains to come through fostoria? I believe 262 usually was 7-10 am and 261 was 6-9p...

Re: Traffic on the C&O in Fostoria?
For the NS fostoria district the most would see is around, One should expect a 24 hour count to be in the mid 20s with a lot of traffic after dark. As for the C&O, north of Fostoria the count is between 30 and 35 every 24 hours with only around 6-8 crossing the diamonds in fostoria, theses trains be...

Re: Fostoria Train Density as of 2015
If you are in Cleveland, I would suggest going to Berea (a suburb on the southwest side of town) where the NS Chicagoline and CSX water level route run right next to each. The train count is similar to Fostoria (about 120) with a fairly even distribution of CSX and NS (Ns may be a little busier). On...

Re: CSX Mount Victory sub train symbols
Oops my mistake on the Q009. Thanks for the info over the last 48 hours, it seems like the Indy line is a little lighter on traffic than I thought.

Re: CSX main line...frequency of trains?
The Garret sub probably sees around 60 trains a day, give or take 5 depending on the day of the week. The busiest time of the day are early mornings between 6-10am and in the evening into the night from around 7 or 8pm, into the night. Those periods may bring 4-6 trains an hour. On the other hand, m...

Re: Recording F-Tower radio feed question
CSX is already a mess as it is....Q281 was stopped on the no. 1 main between east Fostoria and Columbus Ave at 10am and was still there when I left at 7:30. This meant csx was single track between East Fostoria and godsend all day. Also, the dispatcher was telling eastbounds the farthest they could ...

Re: Recording F-Tower radio feed question
Thank you all for the advice, I used audacity to record audio feed while I visted yesterday, I can confirm that the tower is closing Monday night after listening to the radio chatter as well hearing from CSX employees.

Recording F-Tower radio feed question
With F-tower in Fostoria planing to be closed next week, I'd like to record the audio from the railstream radio feed for the Fostoria area. Is there a program that possibly can record the audio from the radio feed? I'd like to record a few hours of feed.

Norfolk southern Sandusky district train count
Hello all, I am trying to figure out how many trains operate on Norfolk Southern's Sandusky district between Columbus and Bellevue over a 24 hour period on average. I believe the number is somewhere between 30-40 trains.... Does anyone have a 24 hour count or any info on the amount of trains on this...

Re: Best Time of Day to Railfan Fostoria/Deshler/OakHarbor
For Fostoria, the busiest times are between 6-10am and 6pm-12am. The major dead spot is mentioned a over between 10-1. Of course railroading is a nighttime business and action is nonstop during the night. Between 2am and 4:30am I saw 21 trains at Deshler last June. Generally the best times of days t...

Re: Wellsboro and Willow Creek Csx curfew
Thanks for the info, trains are now rolling in both directions. There is an eastbound parade of 15-20 trains waiting to move out of Chicago, the Willard sub will be full of eastbounds tomorrow morning.

Re: NS Peavine talk
As for double tracking the fostoria district, that seems like quite a big challenge and it's very expensive to put rail in.

Re: NS Peavine talk
Also west of Fort Wayne, a lot of traffic is added from the New Castle District Eb and even more WB. Also, moving traffic from Bellevue to Elkhart is also now often routed via the marion branch at clay pool so west of fort wayne traffic is about 30 a day with little double track. A lot of these trai...

Re: NS Peavine talk
I think there are two solutions to the problem.... 1. Complete the double track between Waldo to south marion, Harvey, to Colsan, and Benson to Chattfield. This would completely double track the Sandusky line between Bellevue as Columbus which has been seeing 40-45 trains a day now. About 15 use the...
