Re: CSX Locomotive Roster News, Updates & Information Thread

CSX EMDs in the YN2 scheme have begun to dwindle significantly, so it was nice to see SD60M #8739 (one of the two remaining YN2 ex-CR SD60Is) out leading a train on the Toledo Subdivision today. Photo was taken in Columbus Grove, OH (evident by the water tower). G https://farm1.staticflickr.com/381/...

Re: 765 route to Ashtabula

I heard recently that NKP 765 is going to be doing a run on the NS Youngstown Line and its getting there via Ashtabula at the connection. I was wondering when is 765 heading on the full NKP line to get to Ashtabula. I want to catch it doing its ferry move over in Madison Ohio next to this still sta...

BUT, they put the replacements at West Grabil on the other side of the road, so it is possible to photo the Dwarf there without the new sigs in view.
OK, thanks a bunch. Need to see those one last time before they get replaced.

Re: CP 397 to CP 352 field check, & mobile ATCS server

I would say 95% of MP 405 to CP-352 looks to be in place excepting some minor things. Biggest thing missing was a couple of the PTC sticks were not put up yet. They are getting close. It looks like CP-358 May have the only G heads between Toledo and Elkhart when this is finished. Also the Wabash pr...

Re: BLE Tunnel Motors Being Scrapped???

The tunnel motors are being overhauled at Quaility Rail Services in East Saint Louis. Afterwards, they will go to Homewood and supposedly become a part of CN's residual fleet of locomotives. Here's a photo of BLE 902, which emerged from E. St. Louis in CN paint a few days ago: https://www.flickr.co...

Leipsic Area Signal Work on the Toledo Sub

CSX has begun a signal project in the Leipsic area on the Toledo Subdivision, and two sets of iconic B&O CPLs are slated for removal. New southbound Safetran masts are up at Leipsic Junction north of the diamond, while a new northbound cantilever base is in place on the other side. South of town, a ...

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...Part 3

Is the green Lima sign a new addition? It's been there for a few weeks now. I cannot remember when I first saw it show up...but its not been recently. CG It's obviously a sign of the impending NS takeover of the whole line. This would be the fifth of six eastbound oil trains in 5 days. The s...

Re: Marion Indiana trains

311 and 312 are the only trains regularly running the entire length of the Marion Branch. There are at least two locals based in Marion, and I believe the shortline is the CERA and operates mostly at night. Half a dozen a day is not an accurate number, considering a normal day on the Marion Branch ...

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...Part 3

NS does maintenance and NS dispatches it. I'm not sure why NS needs to pay anyone since at merger time they were granted trackage rights for so many trains. So if a Company has passage rights they occur no cost to exercise them ? Why has the NS been running trains the whole time ? Traffic levels ha...

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...Part 3

For the longest time it went like this: CSX owned, CF&E operated & maintained, NS dispatched (Pittsburgh West desk) with trackage rights for 6-8 trains a day. Now, since NS has decided to use these rights, they have picked up some of the maintenance in order to make it a decent 40mph route. CF&E/G&W...

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...Part 3

Not trying to be pessimistic here, but why in the world would passenger traffic be viable on this line? It doesn't even work on the Chicago Line and imagine the funding required to get the track up to a speed that would even give it a chance. To that, I say:  Amtrak or some other passenger ser...

Re: CSX Locomotive Roster News, Updates & Information Thread

The rent-a-wreck age of CSX may see a revival for most of early 2015. HLCX, CEFX, CITX, OFOX, and FURX leasers are all on property currently, with more stuff from various companies and railroads rumored to be on the way. CSX has picked up 12 NREX (ex-SP) SD40M-2 leasers over the last month or so. Nu...

Yes, empty oil I believe. Assuming in Brent's post above that 'Kirk' means Dunkirk, the train should be getting close to the Lima area soon.

So here's a new one for you guys... Was in Lima this morning for a doc. appointment, and went the back way home past Ford Park Yard. I&O 5013 was sitting on the south leg of the wye with a cut of covered hopper. Nothing new there. But, sitting on the fuel pad was a surprising pair of freshly painted...
