Re: IORY North End

Indeed he meant the gons used for pig iron. I&O struggling mightily in Cincy getting anything moved with any sort of regularity. They are talking about bringing back the old 204/209 which would be a solid pig iron train three days a week. I don't think logistics are in place to pull that off i.e. a...

I&O light engines south by Columbus Grove @ 2:40pm. OC 4028, HLCX 8140, and CIND 2002, one of the orange gensets. Look out if they run a Northstar extra tomorrow, as the genset is facing north...

Re: NKP 765 Ferry Move New Haven-Akron

From what I've heard NS doesn't have enough pilot crews for any excursions and the increased freight traffic is taking up open spaces. FWRRHS issued a statement to a group of people somewhere (I can't remember exactly but it was a celebration of some sort) saying that NS doesn't have the resources ...

4084-9500-4085 for power.

Also, the 5012 was sitting crewless at the south end of Ford Park in Lima with a large cut of cars.

Nah, not the first one. 5013 & 5014 have been north of Lima a few times. One of them I believe has been the Lima yard engine for quite awhile

Re: IORY North End

I&O ran an empty grain train north around 1pm with a pair of CSX GEs on point, currently still waiting on the I&O at Leipsic. Met the southbound LNL at Ottawa, who had just finished working on the loop. IORY 9500, 4085, and 5012 for power on the LNL, with around 35 cars (3 CHs up front, followed by ...

Re: IORY North End

A late-running, monster LNL just got back onto the I&O at DT&I Junction, north of Lima @ 2pm. IORY 9500 and 4085 giving it all they had with easily 80+ cars in tow. No exact count, but lots of mixed freight on the head end (including several CHs and loaded centerbeams), followed by about 10-12 coil ...

Before the Fireworks: a July 4th I&O LNL

On the way home from a delicious supper with the family at Five Guys in Lima this evening, I pulled up the ATCS to find a very early I&O train preparing to pull onto the CSX mainline at DT&I Junction. With plenty of sunlight left and gas in the tank, we detoured into Cairo to find him. Soon after I ...

Re: CSX Locomotive Roster News, Updates & Information Thread

We canned the remainder of the RCO Drone fleet today, so you can kiss those goodbye and good riddance. Asterisk says the 9156 and 9151 are not yet officially retired, but both have had their RCO brains stripped, and are thus worthless piles of junk, although I'm sure some would argue they always we...

The one I saw was northbound through CG around noon. Looked like it was a shorter, 60 car train though. The former DT&I was hoppin yesterday!

Raising this thread from the dead . I&O ran two northbounds today: an extra LNL and an empty grain train. Didn't see the LNLX, but the empty grainer had a solo CSX GE.

Re: CSX's 4Q and Full Year Results

All the DM&E power is owned by CP, CP seems to assign garbage power to its ethanol trains and then send them east, as such the power that the CSX guys have to run is junk, doesn't matter who's it is, and there is definitely no shortage of junk power on CSX. There is some newer stuff but even the AC...

Z831-09 by DT&I Junction at around 1:50pm. IORY 5014 (G&W paint) and 4082 with around 30 cars of mixed freight (loaded centerbeams, CN boxcars, lots of covered hoppers, a 10-15 car block of pig iron mtys, and some coil cars on the rear). Not sure why the different symbol, might've just been a fluke ...
