I could have sworn the Union Pacific ran track from Menominee, north to Powers, then west to Iron Mountain. The UP may not operate the track, but it is still there. Vreeland Rail owns one locomotive, an SW-1 #600 and runs out of Ishpeming. They move cars for a mine and an explosives plant, or they u...

Ok, I might have embellished the quantity a bit. I was trying to keep in spirit with the theme of the board, so a little creative license is warrented.

You know what Nick, we are both wrong. I just plugged my vhs tape of Runaway Train in. I fast forwarded to the train parts, after the prison break. The consist is as follows: Lead unit (GP-40), second unit (F-7), third and fourth units (GP-40). Manny climbed across the open face of the F-7, which wa...

i995impalass- You need to rent "Runaway Train". Like I said, the movie is filled with technical flaws related to railroading, but is otherwise a very good movie. The lead unit is an EMD F-7, which does have a rear door. The movie ignores this. There is no dead man feature on the loco. Just about all...

I had a boxcar full of GTW, AA, TSBY, and other photos ruined in a flood about four years back. What drives me nuts is that I had a photo scanner and did not use it.

How come no one posted "Runaway Train" ('85) with Jon Voight, Eric Roberts, Rebecca DeMorney, and John P Ryan? Sure it is loaded with technical errors that most who frequent this board are aware of, but the movie did receive three Academy Award nominations. (Voight for lead actor, Roberts for best s...

I have Microsoft Train Sim 1 & 2, Chris Sawyer's Locomotion, and Rails Across America by Strategy First. Rails Across America is not really a sim game, more strategy than anything. But you do have to make decisions such as to when to give up passenger service on your Chicago to Indianapolis line or ...

I never did a 24 in Durand, but did do an overnight last June. Traffic between 11pm and 3 am was hot and heavy on that night. I do not know if that was the norm or the exception, though.

The last time I spent a morning in Carleton, I saw a train with NS power head into Flat Rock from Diann about 8:30, followed by a train with I&O power headed the other way twenty minutes later. That was it for the entire day through 3:30 pm. I have no idea whether this is the norm or not. I do not k...
