Re: CF&E Customer List and Locomotive Roster
I am hearing rumors that the Chicago Fort Wayne and Eastern lease won't be extended when its 20 year term comes due next year. If anyone wants to see it, its on the SEC website of all places. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/887637/000095014404007676/g90242exv10w93.txt Have you heard any rea...

Re: South Shore Double Track
US 12 is scheduled to close Monday for the bridge over CSX to be placed. One of the cranes is already in place - the other will be parked on the road. The closure is scheduled through Friday. This is the last bridge to be installed, correct? Have you happened to catch any of the test trains between...

Re: South Shore Double Track
I thought I read somewhere that there is now a connecting track between the SSL and Amtrak line from MI. Is there plans to move Amtrak to the SSL to access Chicago? That connection has been there forever. It goes via the NIPSCO yard and was originally the interchange point between the Monon and SSL...

Re: Norfolk Southern Marion Branch
Hey all. Quick question about this line. I just moved back to IN after living in FL for 20yrs. and my job is right by this line in New Paris. I can look out the office window and see the trains as they go by. It's pretty fun. Question is I've seen some CN and CP power on the line, are these trains r...

Re: Chasing the ND&W, vanwerty style!
Thank you, Scott, for posting these videos. Do you think they brought the 107 to the line to transfer equipment/ties, etc. across that portion of the line as light as possible? The rail in the foreground at the beginning of the first picture is in pretty bad shape. Glad they're rehabbing the line. I...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Beginning
They ran the mower on the entire line, not just Defiance to Cecil. In talking with guys from the ND&W, there is nothing wrong with the line between Defiance and Cecil and the track has never been in as bad a shape as a lot of the rest of the railroad. There is just no need to use it at this time, b...

Re: Florida FEC vacation
I live in Seminole County, but I'm afraid I rarely make it out to the beach, much less follow the FEC  . However, if you have time to drive into the Orlando area, they are double tracking the CSX all the way through the metropolitan area to allow for the Sun Rail project to begin next year. Al...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Beginning
Was this a test run to see if there were any bad spots left, do you think? I wonder how long it will be until regular traffic returns.MagnumForce wrote:1606 ran as light power from Cecil to Defiance and then back today, this is the first movement of anything but track equipment in close to 10 years.

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Beginning
For the track work between Cecil and Defiance, how long until a train runs over those rails do you guys think? I know it's been several years, not sure exactly how long.

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Beginning
Living in FL I keep forgetting how cold it gets up there in OH. I've been enjoying the coverage of the NDnW from all of you. Next time I'm up that way I will definitely go get some shots! :D 7 degrees right now, headed to a low of 3 tonight. Got up to 73 here today. I'll try to send some ...
