Re: How will Hostess Closing affect Rail Traffic?
I'll take Little Debbie over Hostess, but glad to hear Sun Capital is interested in the company. Hopefully, with new management, the old Hostess employees will get what they deserve. You can blame the union all you want, but they are just standing up for what is right and what the workers deserve. G...

Re: UP train hits parade float
UP typically issues a Form C track bulletin in such an event. What you mention, is protocol for UP, either running restricted speed, "be on the lookout for pedstrians", etc. Sometimes they will have a flagman or just issue an "XH" or an "XS" crossing procedure, requiring trains to not exceed 15 mph ...

Looks like an identity crisis between CP, Conrail and NS. Yellow handrails just add to the festivities. Fugly paintscheme on a fugly engine. Maybe it's the black? Bring the red down over the windshield and then everything below that blue? I like the GP9 fan on the turbocharger, too.

Re: Another special NS unit coming!
Just got back from Best Buy. Had to buy a new keyboard. Barfed all over the old one and it doesn't work any more.   Fugly SD60E to begin with and I completely agree with Y@, long hood gets an A+, but the nose/cab gets an F. Looks like there was an explosion at the Crayola factory....

I like the comment on the bottom, "we have very little need for rail service in this country today." HA! Yeah, lets axe it and see what he says when he's sitting in a traffic jam from Chicago to Texas...

Re: CSX is painting SD40-3's into the Boxcar paint as well.
Lookin' good! The [..CSX..] logo looks good on the back. IMO, they should put little "How Tomorrow Moves" sub-lettering under the bigger logo, sorta like the "Employee-Owned" under "Marquette" on GLLX 3001. Doesn't look like there's much room to put it underneath. Maybe they could put it on the end...

The news clip in the link says everyone walked away.SD80MAC wrote:Was anyone hurt? The article didn't really say. Looks like the crew would've been ok judging from the way the engine came to rest, probably a wild ride though!

If I had not been on vacation, I would have been your shots as my turn caught that MPRPB. I was shooting Warbonnets on the C&I at Chadwick around this time with a few others from here. We'd seen the 1983 a few nights before, getting night shots of a meet as he was stopped at Ashton, IL on KLBG2 wait...

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...Part 2
I wasn't aware 9362 wasn't on the property anymore either. Just saw pictures of it down here by me in Decatur, IL last month. Man, am I behind the times! As I have said before, there weren't many trips on the FWCH/CHFW that were made without the 9362/4056 pair. After the westbound trip in the ...

Re: Everything/Anything CF&E thread...Part 2
OK...so I just now realized they have two of the ex-GTW SCRF GP40-2s...I would notice sometimes people would post 6415, and then sometimes 6412 and figured they meant 6415 and it was a typo. Can't keep up with all this "new" power! When I worked there in 2010, our power between Ft. Wayne and L...

Re: Box Car Logo Repaints
CSX has never had any imagination when it comes to paint schemes. Period. How about CP? or UP? As a matter of fact, I don't think many of the major railroads, including Class 2s put much effort into their schemes. Maybe KCS did some, and BNSF's look good, but the rest are basically a base coat with...

Re: What is it?
That's a gate at an interlocking. No signals at the diamond there at Hackley, just the gate. It was normally lined for C&O/CSX. When MS would come through, they swing the gate 'open' across the CSX tracks like you see in the picture and then once they've crossed, they line it back. In this shot, it'...

Brought an AMQGFR to Griffith last night, 47 empties for Lansing. UP 4799 solo, sorry, no good power. There are two more rack trains heading for Griffith today from UP. AWFGFR with UP 4233 and 66 mts and AFXGFR with UP 8709 and 61 mts.
