Re: Train hits truck after police warn owner, stranger than
I was just looking at a birds eye view on maps.live.com, looks like you can park pretty darn close to the tracks. Wonder if they'll remove those spots that run parallel to the tracks...

CSX MOW equipment in Holland (behind the Wesco)
Hi all,
Anyone know any details about all the MOW equipment behind the Wesco on Lakewood @ Douglas? They're on the spur that heads over to Total Logistics Control/Ryder.

Re: Intermodal 101
Thanks! That definitely helps. I got really curious because I just returned from FL and noticed a lot of Intermodal traffic on the FEC shortline between Jacksonville and Miami. That got me to thinking just where are all these containers are going. I was thinking that containers coming in to the Port...

Intermodal 101
Hey all, I was on my way back from Chicago and it's hard not to notice all the intermodal trains on the east side of the skyway. I saw at least 2 really long intermodal trains. Where do these come from? Are they coming from another intermodal yard? Do they make many stops and pick up containers alon...

Re: Niles gets a new run around track
In response to signmasters picture where he says, "I know the track is bad leading to their siding." That's so crazy that track looking like that can handle a locomotive and consist! Is it due to the weight of the train that the track can "support" it? It just looks so flimsy and a derailment waitin...

I just found the overturned hopper that you were referring to on maps.live.com. How long has it been on its side? They just left it there?

MMRE Fuller/Michigan train
Hi everyone, I live near the tracks that cross Fuller Ave. near 196 (just north of Michigan St.). Everyone so often (3-4 times a week?) we get a train. Usually it's a single engine with a small consist (6-7 cars). I usually see it travelling east bound. What industries does this train usually serve?...

Are there trains in this area (M-6 @ M-37)
Hello, I work close to where the Paul B. Henry freeway (M6) crosses M-37 in southern Grand Rapids and I swear, every now and then I hear a train horn that sounds REAL close! I just heard one about 15 minutes ago. I know there are active tracks that run along the north part of the airport, and, accor...

"Spaghetti" tracks? (tracks not in very good shape)
Hello all! I'm looking for some pictures of tracks that are in really bad shape, yet, still being used. I've seen some pics of tracks and just couldn't believe a locomotive and its consist could actually use them. Even here in GR, I thought for sure some tracks were out-of-use until I saw an actual ...

How do you tack/nail your track down?
Hello, I have a question about Atlas part 2540 (HO/N Track nails). I have a 4x8 HO scale layout using Code 083 Atlas track. I have the track laid on top of Woodland Scenics roadbed. I am debating how to tack the track down now. I bought some small "spikes" that fit in to the holes that are pre-cut i...

Thanks a lot guys!
You're right, now that I think about it those times are pretty good. I've been able to catch some of the intermodals down there and you're right, they seem to be going between 20-30mph.
Thanks for the input!
