Most of the rail trails agreements have a clause allowing the RR to reclaim the trail in the future. This is mostly on the trails that are sold for a $, essentially an eternal lease. If the RR sells the land and it is retitled, then that is an ownership transfer. As for other places to ride, I prefe...

If you are a bicycler and a railfan like I am, it is bittersweet, at least I get to enjoy riding the same path that the iron horses once trod. With over 1300 hundred miles of railtrails in the state, I have not even rode on half of them but I can say it is well worth taking up riding just to see the...

I walked over to the yard and was photographing the whole train when the engines arrived to pick it up. As said earlier, they took them to the train and then bought them back. As of an hour ago they were still in the yard. :)

When did it cease to opperate? I took the lunch train back in 98 while on vacation. It had a nice view of the East Bay. The lunch train went East toward Acme whereas the dinner train went south toward Walton Junction. :)

If ferromex bought KCS they would make us push '2' to talk in English.

Sounds like another 'NIMBY' group to me. They have opposed everything since the project was announced. They will co operate with CP as until CP decides to build the coal line.

I talked to troopers on previous trips and their presense is to make sure the drivers don't get reckless. He said a lot of people got warned not to shoot video while driving, yes , that is people who are driving and looking thru a viewfinder shooting video. They could write a lot more tickets than t...

Re: Submitted For Your Perusal....

Fascinating little point here folks...if you hire out with MC on the day of formation and stay one year you'll get a $5,ooo.oo dollar bonus. If you hire out after day one you start at 75% of the rates shown above. Seeing the attrition rate on other websites among WATCO employees I will assume this....

As I was about to leave town today this train arrived and I stayed and counted 45 cars inbound. I had to leave so I didn't see how many they took back to the tri cities.

I moved to Durand last year and see the train every day. On the days I count there are usually more than 75 cars. I don't know what they have been in the past years. They are now taking coal trains north now, and yesterday there were 6 units although 2 were dead in tow. Whether this was intentional ...

I live in Durand and joined this forum after meeting all you people in May.

I hope you do the Durand thing in Sept. as my wife and I are going to Hearst Ontario the week end before Labor Day for a week. I will take lots of pictures and post them when I get back.
