Re: What do you make of this (Grawn)..

Could possibly be rebuilding the crossing so its not so rough.... Before you rip track out (break the circuit) you have to isolate those traffic light pre-emptions otherwise they'll be some angry drivers waiting at a red light that'll never change

Hearing thru the circles that the operator of the Hy-rail may have had a medical emergency and ran into the train. Just what i've seen circulating and I don't know for sure.

Re: Southern Michigan Railroad Society report

Robert.... 12 coaches full of fans? We have a hard enough time trying to fill mainline steam trips let alone a shortline diesel hauling/finding 1000 Ann Arbor fans in one trip.

Re: Rock Island 938 Restoration Candidate???

Part of the throat sheet is new. To replace the bottom of the combustion chamber the top of the throat sheet had to be partially cut off. The top of the combustion chamber is the piece that was left in place.

Re: Rock Island 938 Restoration Candidate???

The SRI guys didn't give the 1225 an entirely new firebox. There are still sheets in there from before the rebuild. We helped drill and fit sheets but PAID for a certified boiler making company to come in and do all the welding.... VERY EXPENSIVE!!!

The RS-1 in Shepard is NOT operational. It is owned by SMRS and they have robbed tons of parts from it for the one sitting in southern Michigan

Re: GLC Passenger Train - fall colors

Passenger trains are limited to 25mph on the GLC system. Other inspections on the rail would have to be done to increase the speed but since GLC isn't getting rich of the excursions and 25mph works fine for the operators there won't be a change in this anytime soon. Just fine as a chaser, too...muc...

Wow.... Such rumors. Much fail.
And you wonder why people in the know keep things to themselves anymore. I could tell you GLC is gonna rebuild a truck under a GP35 and somehow tomorrow it will be turned into GLC is buying SD70ACe's.

Re: 2 container ships collide in Suez Cannel

Looking at the smoke from the exhaust and the fact that other ships draft can suck in passing boats I don't think the other ship intentionally rammed the other. The crosswind mixed with the other ships draft pulling I believe was a recipe for disaster.

Notes on the GP35's...
389 is NOT in service. Still sidelined with issues.
391 is "useable" but has issues that have to be addressed to be fully back in reliable service.
