Jointed rail can be 39' ft long.... It can also be 33' or 30'or whatever size the railroad ordered. I've seen it all out there. It was stated a 3' piece of rail was broken... It never said a 3' section of rail that was a patch job as you imply. Rail goes thru stresses and can just break... Even bran...

Speed limit in that area minus any temporary slow orders is 40mph... And they run every bit of it

Coupling over 5 mph is a collision? Someone should tell that to CSX or any of the other railroads that teach and enforce 4 mph... Kinda why you see the stickers on some cars that say "No More Than 4 mph"

Didn't work out with CSX is an excuse... Trust me. Back in the day yes the traffic on that line could create a little bit of delay at the automatic interlocker at Ann Pere but now it the CSX delay isnt really a factor.

Big problem with theses trips... Cost for tickets. You go to the festival with you're family, lets say 2 adults and 3 kids, and the price of (1) 1 hour train ride can blow the entire weekends budget or more for a family. And with disposable income not what it used to be the choice is easy... Free/ch...
