Re: Detroit Edison Company Switchers in East China, MI

I used to live two blocks from the dump house! I've gotten a few pics from there, but you have to watch. Security can come by and confiscate your camera (remember, it IS a power plant, which is one of the Homeland Security red flags). I've seen it happen! I used to live across the hall from the guy...

Re: Derailment on the GLC at 127

Saw it on my way back from Alma today, was just west of 127, looked like two or three cars tipped to the south of the tracks. That was about all i could see going 65mph. Nothing blocking 127 at that time, think i went through about 15:45

Re: SBS on the ground in Essexville

Consumers also has options in Essexville, because they can shift the contracts to HESR/CN instead of using both SBS and HESR. If that were to happen only the limited amount of eastern coal trains would come via SBS. Can they receive ships? Yup, coal is received by ship all the time during the shipp...

Re: One less Class 1 in the Capital City?

Hiya everyone, first of all I'd like to introduce myself...first time poster, long time website follower. Love the site, lots of good info on here. Anyhow, I'd heard a rumor today that NS is in the works to sell the Lansing Secondary to a shortline. Not sure as to the receiving shortline is, but th...

Re: City wants delays at tracks to stop

I dare to say that the majority of Consumers Energy employees who work in the building live outside of Jackson city limits- with very few exceptions. Most pay the lower income tax and live in the outlying townships, so they pay a much smaller city income tax percentage. How would you even know? Eve...

Re: City wants delays at tracks to stop

What do volunteering hours have to do with anything :?: :?: :?: AMTRAK (that's how it's spelled) gets government subsidies because they are a unit of government!! The fact that consumers energy gets some is a diffrent matter entirely. Was I talking to you in the first place? I don't think so, I was...

Re: City wants delays at tracks to stop

Was I talking to you in the first place? I don't think so, I was asking for amtrakjackson to explain the endless subsidies to Consumers comment. I for one get sick and tired of listing to uninformed citizens of Jackson spout off about Consumers Energy, receiving money/subsidies etc from the governm...

Re: City wants delays at tracks to stop

The heart of the matter is this: None of the trains block any grade crossings more than five minutes, rusty rail or not- the crossings are equipped with motion detectors and the warning devices time out well ahead of time. However, many times, 350, 353, and B16 will run within minutes of each other...

They don't have a new switcher at the Karn complex. They do at Campbell and Whiting though. I will try to snap a pic of the campbell units next time I am on site.

There will be more train traffic, the plan is to add a new coal dumper building and a coal yard for the new plant. The pictures show more rail around the facility.

Right now the boiler in unit three is not online, they had a problem with some of the new boiler pipes bursting and or being pluged. Something like this is common for the size of the rebuild that went on.

The stacker at the plant is broken, actually damaged from a storm thus they cannot use the dumper for the railroad cars.
