Re: Toledo to Stony Ridge, Ohio

In the early 2000's, there was talk of installing a connection between the former C&O and the south end of Stanley Yard. It would have involved acquiring a new right-of-way, but apparently there was a lot of public outcry and NIMBYism. Looking at it on Bing, it looks feasible if they would cut in a ...

Re: West Dayton Business Expanding

Yes, the Transcon Express facility - near Springfield Street not far from the old Wellston - still gets a smattering of cars weekly. Someone else mentioned Franklin Iron and Metal which does a healthy business loading scrap in gons. Cargill is in fact the largest rail customer in Dayton, averaging 2...

Re: Favorite scanner chatter

A few I can think of off the top of my head: When Conrail was running Triple Crowns on the Ft. Wayne Line in the late 90's, Pittsburgh West was giving a form D for crossing protection at Lima to RR241 and was having radio reception issues. After repeating pretty much the whole order for about the th...

ICC Accident Reports 1911-1994

http://specialcollection.dotlibrary.dot.gov/

I used to spend hours on this site, but recently when I went to look up a certain accident, I find the text of the reports to be missing. What's up with this? Are they being moved to another site?

I believe the plastic hoppers come from either BASF or Greenville Technologies The hoppers may also be coming to or from Spartech Plastics which has a new plant on Landsdowne Ave that replaced the old plant on Jaysville St.Johns Rd next to the engine house. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kc8wjg/58163...

http://www.jampd.com/parks-facilities/veterans-freedom-flag-monument.aspx#.UF2xq42PW68 This is where you were? So much for having "freedom". If you weren't illegally parked and you were on public (that you as a taxpayer likely helped fund) property, then they have no leg to stand on. I don't care if...

Can I do this, or do I have to create a whole new name? I sent a PM to the list admin twice and never received a reply.

midland sub wrote:What kind of cars did the 9500 have? More than likely it was the WCH-A crew coming back from working the WCH ind park. That would have been the 9400 working with 4070 and more than likely the WCH-B crew.
If I remember right, it was boxcars and centerbeams.

Re: IORY South End part 3

A friend and I were out all day Tuesday and we finished up our day in the WCH area. Downtown at 4:30, we caught 9500 northbound with 6 or 7 cars, and chased it out to Konrad where it pulled into the yard. Moments later, we shot the 4070 (with another ex-SP unit, couldn't see the number) running arou...

Re: Best Locations for B&O signals?

ok I found Swanders, how the heck do you get back to those signals? You can't without trespassing. Your only options are shooting with a telephoto lens from the Sharp Rd. crossing at MP 102, or from the Ft.Loramie-Swanders crossing in "downtown" Swanders. Sun angle-wise at this time of the year, so...

Re: Best Locations for B&O signals?

Both ends of Piqua siding, both ends of Troy, and the south end of Tipp City. Out of these, I think north Troy and north Tipp are the best shots, especially at this time of the year. I've never tried to shoot at south Troy. There is an access road off of 25A though I've never ventured back there.

They have a full menu, but bar food (i.e. burgers and fries) is about all they can consistently get right. The last monthly meeting was my first time ever in the Shovel. Decent. Berwick Steel aka Precision Strip, Component Structures on Looney Road and Poly Source on Statler Road. Is Berwick Steel actually getting confirmed traffic? Precision Strip is a separate company located 14 miles south at Tipp City, but it too is served by the D744. Don't forget the Crayex plastics ...

I'm thinking that I won't waste any time and just head straight to T.Haute. What/when does the INRD run over there?

Greencastle-Terre Haute Area

Next week -- likely Thursday -- I will be making a family-related trip to the area and will have some spare time to foam (might as well make the most of it, since gas is costing an arm and a leg.) Any suggestions on what I might see on the CSX St. Louis line, or any good photo locations? Any info wo...

Not supposed to shove empty cars over crossings that may be fouled by ice and/or snow... ...or at the very least, precede the move on foot at less than walking speed. After the ice storm we had in Ohio, though, being on foot may be even more hazardous. Some people don't believe that empties will de...
