Oh the humanity!
no more than 13.9 trains per day or NS must pay a fine.
I hope the 0.9 train has cool power.

Re: Plant Closing in Dayton

Dayton unfortunately is just a dead zone for GM compared to what it used to be. Dayton is just a dead zone, period. Yes, the new racino is thriving. I was working on the day it opened, and we got to watch the doors open live from the across the yard. It may be an odd sight, but as you know, a simil...

Plant Closing in Dayton

http://www.whio.com/news/news/trotwood-gm-supplier-to-shut-down/nh2dx/ This GM distribution center is located at the end of the CSX former D&U industrial track, on the far west side of Dayton. The facility didn't generate a huge amount of traffic, but its closing will still be a significant loss for...

A couple of years in "government time" probably equals about 10-15. The whole PTC project is already in jeopardy, in light of the recent developments regarding tower construction and the ramifications to Native American burial grounds.

Sooooo, did it end up going to Utah? IMO, it should end up somewhere it will be appreciated, like Murrion.

Re: Erie through Ohio City.

Track was still in place on the Alger I.T. west of Kenton and into Alger proper as late as 1994 when I was making trips up 235 (to visit the now-defunct Ada Model RR Club). If I remember correctly, the trackage was physically removed by the end of the decade. [Federal Register: November 10, 1994] --...

I knew what he meant, that extra "and" in the sentence kind of threw me off. The douche driver had it coming. He deserved a colon cleansing compliments of a carefully placed lining bar.

I thought I had read a few years back that a significant amount of money was to be allocated to rebuild the old Avenue Yard for the new Sunoco service. Did this ever happen? If so, what a waste.

Re: Old Lines

From past post off memory, Bradford side was rebuilt in 79-80 rip up 85-86, its down fall was the grade west of Urbana at Rice and the many towers along the line. Its downfall is that it duplicated the same general routing as the Big Four, once the Ridgeway SW connection was in place. Another line ...

Re: Nova Tower

In an era when liability and safety concerns are paramount, it's remarkable that CSX allowed such a ramshackle structure on the right-of-way, to exist for so long. Extract the model board, if nothing else; the levers are too integral to the structure and are probably in equally poor shape to mess wi...

I would regard the last 2-3 years on the former DT&I north of Springfield as the hitting rock bottom years, and would just as soon forget they ever happened.

there's more MVR guys still shooting slides. Stuff taken in the 70s just can't compete with today's stuff for us who were around back then. Not to hijack the Marion thread, but I wish MVR would do more digital shows. Don't get me wrong; I enjoy it when I go, but we haven't had a digital show since ...
