Re: Autonomous Pod Train - intermodal
This looks like another one of those ideas that goes into testing to get a lot of investors hooked in then the reality sets in of all the regulations and requirements to operate that leads to little to no business development. This would work at ports or plant-owned operations but there’s no way rai...

It’s back open. Q510/511, Q151, and D736 are amongst some of the first trains that have been through this afternoon.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 10:21 amSounds like mid afternoon things should reopen as repairs are almost finished.

Re: Romulus CSX Derailment
Both mains have significant damage to them. Main 2 completely severed and the crossover at Sibley was wiped out, but somehow the wrecked cars missed the signals and rolled to the west side of the main. The damaged track goes all the way to the diamond at Romulus. There are slab loads along Sibley Ro...

Re: CN Lake Orion Sub - The end finally???
Saw this article today - possible $3B as in ‘billions’ investment by GM being considered for the Orion plant for electric pickup production. Wondering if the volumes being projected would be sufficient to warrant reactivating the branch. https://insideevs.com/news/553881/rumor-gm-3billion-projects-...

CN Yooper Operations
What are the trains that operate on the CN main line across the UP and what time of the day are they normally spotted, particularly between Trout Lake and Saulte Ste Marie?

Re: CN Lake Orion Sub - The end finally???
The Romeo Sub connected to PO&N Junction east of Baldwin Avenue and hooked south after crossing Joslyn Avenue and would connect to the segment you are speaking about….at least during the final years in the 90s it did.

Re: CN Lake Orion Sub - The end finally???
Chip, I don’t think the original surveyors that plotted the railroad over a century ago thought the area would develop to what it is today…. In concurrence to AARR, there are those 3 customers on the south end of the Pontiac Belt Line, located north of downtown Pontiac by the old PO&N Junction. The ...

Re: CSX Q132, or is it Q432?
132 has has been running via Plymouth for a long time at this point and the manifest block gets set off in Rougemere before taking a spin around Delray and into Livernois Yard. Doesn’t matter what power or if it has manifest or not if the timetables has them running via Plymouth since they started h...

Re: Consumers Energy West Olive.
Anyone thought there might be a long-term goal as a result of this event for CSX to abandon Harlem to Ferrysburg in order to get rid of the costly swing bridge in Ferrysburg and G&W can just relay the tracks from Freemont to White Cloud? When Campbell is gone there’s really nothing running north of ...

Re: CSX bridge over Ann Arbor Rd. in Plymouth Township
Except for a few areas where concrete has broken off and exposed the rebar, it’s a structurally sound bridge from what CSX told our township (didn’t doubt it). Ann Arbor Road is pretty much the enteranceway into Plymouth from folks getting off I-275 and someone from the township got the bright idea ...

Re: CP to Buy KCS
...It’s only a matter of time with CSX once West Olive reduces their coal consumption down the road for who’s the next operator to step in. Nothing concrete, But J.H. Campbell has been running far less trains lately The plant is (according to everything I can find on Google) the plant is good to ru...

Re: CP to Buy KCS
LSRC getting the PM would be a best outcome, even better than CP-KC buying it. Look at what they’ve done north of Plymouth since they took that over - they have loaded autoracks out of Flint, an event we’d never thought we’d ever see again on that line since 1999. Regarding Plymouth-Porter: It’s onl...

Re: CP to Buy KCS
I see what your saying 8401, but the big speculation question is if NS wants to handle it? Or perhaps CSX will be more flexible to increased traffic and more train slots than NS is currently allowing? Once west of Plymouth, it’s pretty much open space for increased train traffic with 4-6 CSX trains ...

Re: CP to Buy KCS
Honestly what CPKC will become cannot be competed by any other railroad even if more mergers come together. CN cant merge with Ferromex, the western carriers can’t connect to the east and Mexico unless they do an ungodly combination that the STB would never pass, even any east-west merger alone stil...

Re: LSRC Buick City Update
Tonight another X127 has left Wixom and is headed to Flint with more than half of the train being racks. This is the 3rd train that’s been reported this week running overnight as an extra train just to accommodate racks for Buick City. Curious if this will eventually develop into scheduled unit trai...

Re: LSRC Buick City Update
I thought the plant is next to CN. The vehicles will have to be trucked to Buick City to load onto LSRC. Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. Probably LSRC offered a good price to perform the Inter plant switching. You are not mistaken. CN did not want this business as these cars were direct sh...

Re: LSRC Buick City Update
They already are being tacked onto the D735/736 trains on CSX and Z127NB/SB on LSRC. Can’t believe 22 years later and we are seeing loaded auto racks going through Wixom for Buick City - something I’d never thought I’d see or say ever again! This would be the 3rd customer LSRC has developed off the...
