Re: Union Pacific's birthday

Union Pacific is a great example of what we Americans are capable of. No other company in the world can claim they had such an influence on the building of a nation. Apple might be continuing the great American tradition of building the country up, but in reality, Union Pacific paved the way. Keep ...

Re: best radio skip you have ever gotten when railfanning?

Pulling into Collinwood, on my previously mentioned, CP 6017. I heard Crestline Clerk loud and clear telling a train to pull down to Beam Rd. and tie it down. That is about 85 or so miles.

Re: NKP 765 Toledo Run

I dont think its going to happen, based on where they are going to be. First move is Ft Wayne to Bellevue. NKP between two said cities. Second move is Bellevue to Toledo. NKP all the way or combo NKP/NYC route. Third move it Toledo to Willimson, Wv. Seeing this is the heart of coal country, this is ...

Cam, why are you suprised? I mean aren't you supposed to do that? 8) We all have seen MANY interesting finds, and even though I would like to photograph them, if they are not on property of which I know the owner and have expressed permission, I don't photograph or climb on out of respect. Its like...

Re: Frankenmuth

The Michigan Electric Railway ran along side Junction Rd. Bill who owned JV, used to tell me about how when we was building the railroad IIRC he found the trestle piers along side Junction Road, where the "Valley" was. You can still follow most of the MER from Junction Rd/Dixie Hwy all the way to Mt...

For some reason, four years ago I had remember seeing a crossing gate by the silos on main street. Maybe it was a train mirage IIRC what you seen was a RR crossbuck (or something that looked like it at the School House Square (IIRC). I rember something like that, in the grass in front of the place....

Re: Frankenmuth

The only rail line serving Frankenmuth I know of was the old Interurban, but that was gone back in the 30's? I have a map from 1925 that shows a line into Frankenmuth. That must be the line it was referring too. I am sure it is, but I dont think it ever serviced Star of the West, could be wrong. An...

Yes, but removed long ago. Star of the West owns and operates quite a few elevators and mills in the thumb area and also in Quincy, MI, and IN and OH too. The place in Frankenmuth transloads inbound and outbound product from several places including Flint and Saginaw. It did? When? The only rail li...

Re: Charlie Sheen vs. bloody-nose gator

The Alliagator's were RSD-15's with a low nose. Railroad to purchas the low nose versons, were the ATSF (50) & SP (13 total) companies (TNO & SSW). The nose on the RSD-7's and 15's were the same length, but it was the low nose verson that got the nickname. That unit there has the standard lenght ALC...
