Re: MMRR Alma Sub
That is too bad about NWE. That facility isn't that old. The Bear Truss rumor has a little more truth to it this time as reports have employees cancelling medical procedures because insurance has been stripped. Only time will tell.

Re: MMRR Alma Sub
I don't know if Northwest Energy (propane dealer between Breckenridge and Wheeler) still gets service, but they have a spur with a platform. Also, rumor around St. Louis is that Bear Truss is going under.

Re: Where to train watch in Bay City
Harvey's out on Wilder is a good place to eat. It is on the south side of the road across from Bay City Mall. Good food and usually served quickly. I had a really good Philly steak and also like the mac and cheese.

OCC, Did you get a shot of the Pigeon COOP hopper? I would love to see a picture if you have one.

Re: HESR in Pigeon
The Co-opfacility east of Elkton has 5 single dome tanks, which I assume have to be fertilizer, but they have been there for a while. Monday night there were 5 covered hoppers shoehorned between crossings on the spur to the small elevator in Elkton and one more under the chute. They were all gone la...

HESR in Pigeon
At 11:30 p.m. I was on my way home through Pigeon and caught HESR. They were backing off the elevator/bean plant spur. They backed to the switch and headed west past the old depot on the main. MNN 1471 was in the lead with NECR 3852 following. They had 4 boxcars and 1 covered hopper in tow. That was...

GVRR show
Is anyone going to the GVRR show this Sunday? I have never been to this show before. Does anyone have any suggestions/advice? I am looking for O gauge stuff. Would this show be worth my time or is it mostly HO and N? I will be coming down M-53 if anyone is interested in sharing a ride.

Re: GLC train v. car
oh thanks, didnt even notice that. BS. There is PLENTY of view. PLENTY. He tried to beat the train and lost. Plain and simple. I didn't say there was a limited view at the crossing. I said there is a limited view of the crossing in the video . I don't care if there is a limited view. There is still...

There is a limited view of the crossing in the video. I love the <--- look---> sign. That should say it all.

Re: Storing power and cars
I was down in Reford this weekend, and it sure looked like the auto racks sitting over both Beech Daly and Telegraph were the same cars that were there when I was down there around Thanksgiving. My friend said that the cars hadn't moved in quite a while. Would they be storing cars there?

Re: Train derailment forces evacuation
Nanticoke is directly north of Erie, PA and west of Buffalo, NY. There is a coal powered generating plant there. It is serviced by lake boats. There are also some other industries there. The aerial maps are low resolution so rails are hard to see.

I also love the two tone blue/white Ford parked in front of the hoppers in the first shot. Oh the things you see in the U.P. Of course we probably have a few of those in the Thumb too.

Re: Trip #8036 to the UP. Part 1 and 2 (MR and CN)
Thanks for the great pics and the report. Normally the wife and I would be headed to Marquette for our annual President's Day Weekend trip. She is working all weekend so no UP until at least summer. Thanks again for the pictures of that beautiful area.

That Auto Train scheme makes it look like they were built using Legos.
