Thanks for the quick response. That is what I thought, but I was not sure.

Yards along I-96
A few weeks ago the wife and I were visiting some friends in Redford. We were headed into Downtown Detroit along I-96 and I noticed a couple of rail yards. They are located between Evergreen and the Southfield Freeway. I have very little knowledge of Detroit railroading and my friend had no clue. Th...

Re: detailing track with airbrush
There is an article in the FEB/MAR issue of O-Guage Railroading that discusses techniques for making Lionel's FasTrack look more realistic. The author applies his paint with a brush but he uses Brown Oxide for the rails. It is hard to tell in the picture but it looks like it is from Apple Barrel Col...

HESR in Pigeon
I caught the HESR twice tonight. Around 8:30, I was headed south through the Caseville Road/M-142 intersection/crossing and looked to the east and saw the headlight down in the center of town. I was ahead of schedule for my hockey game in Bad Axe, so I turned around and went into the center of town....

Re: What scale do you model?
I have O stuff. I am working on Great Lakes area ideas. I have a lot of DMIR stuff. I would love to run from Duluth to steel mills at the southern end of the lakes and include some grain operations. Maybe some connections to the eastern Great Lakes with NYC and CSX. I would also include some passeng...

Re: Snow Emergency (What is it?)
You don't have to go around them. Just a "gentle" nudge into the snow bank. I saw one of those on my way up to visit my wife when she was in school at NMU. Just east of Seney it was snowing and blowing with zero visibility. I don't think the plow driver ever saw the car. The plow had some damage, th...

A copy of the HESR timetable # 11 that went into effect Feb. 8, 2004 lists the Caro sub at 25mph with permanent speed restictions of 10 mph from MP 11.5 to MP 14.5 and MP 22.0 to MP 22.4.

I remember many trips to the UP during the summer and it was always a thrill to see the the Chief out in the middle of the Straits with black smoke trailing.

Re: MQT's GLLX 3001 in O Scale
I just got home and found a box at my front door. My GLLX 3001 finally arrived. There was one major flow that was apparent as soon as I removed the foam wrapper. GLLX 3002 is proudly displayed. HUH! I ordered the non-powered unit so I am assuming they ran two road numbers, one for the powered and an...

Re: MMRR trackage
I was in St. Louis at my parents for Thanksgiving and took M-46 east on my way home Friday. There was one centerbeam at Bear Truss and nothing at Royster. There was nothing at the MAC in Breckenridge. The MAC at Ransom Road between Breckenridge and Wheeler had a single tank car. There were several c...

Thanks for the great pictures and videos. I got to see the 1471 up close and personal this summer on a tour of the facilities in Bad Axe. It is still in good shape considering its age.

Re: Mt Pleasant,Alma area question
That would be the southeast corner of Ithaca. In many trips up and down US-127, I have never seen a train on that line.

CNR to rejuvenate its ore car fleet
This was posted on Boatnerd.com on Saturday. CNR to rejuvenate its ore car fleet 10/11 - Duluth - The Canadian National Railway announced Thursday its intentions to rejuvenate the aging fleet of ore cars it uses to serve taconite plants on the Iron Range. The railroad said it will purchase 232 rapid...

NECR 3852
According to my buddy at HESR the NECR 3852 has some issues. One traction motor is missing. Apparently the wheels were "good enough to get it here". There are also questions about the main generator. Sounds like some work for the HESR. BTW, also found out that day crew is back on in Bad Axe and extr...
