Re: Suggestions For Traveling on the SS Badger
Pixl, Yes, we did take our trip. It started with a wedding in Petoskey on Aug. 1. We got caught up in the storms that caused a lot of damage in that area as we were leaving town on August 2. When we arrived at the Mackinac Bridge it was shut down "due to high winds". We waited on the overpass that w...

Re: Railroads Crossing Highways at Grade
The area of M-57 and US-127 intersection is known as Ola Corners. There was a restaurant in the northeast quadrant of the intersection before the overpass was built. This section of US-127 is still open access with many intersections and driveways along the road. This open access section of US-127 e...

Re: Suggestions For Traveling on the SS Badger
Thank you for the info, gentlemen. We will be stopping at Lambeau and the National Railway Museum while passing through Green Bay. Depending on the timing, we are hoping to spend some time wandering around Manitowoc before our trip home. Now we just hope for good weather!

Re: Michigan Shortlines July 2015
On our way home from watching the Great Lakes Loons at Dow Diamond, we caught the Huron and Eastern headed north through Unionville at 10:42. I missed the lead unit, but I believe it was one of the black locos. 2028 was trailing and was followed by three of the former Wisconsin Central box cars and ...

Suggestions For Traveling on the SS Badger
Next week, our summer vacation will take us across Lake Michigan on the SS Badger. Do any of you have any suggestions for things to see or do while on the Badger, or in either port. The wife and I like historical stuff and I can drag her along on "some" train related activities. We also have a 4 1/2...

Re: Michigan Shortlines July 2015
Huron and Eastern headed westbound between Pigeon and Wallace at about 9:00 p.m. with 32 covered hoppers. 1721 was leading and 8802 trailing. Here is a link to the video. This was filmed with my cell phone while resting on the bed rail of my truck. The bugs were thick so I apologize for the bouncing...

Pere Marquette out of Midland has lots of distance options.
Fred Meijer Heartland Trail out of Alma would be another option with numerous distance options.

Re: Michigan Shortlines May 2015
I took the daughter to Alma on Saturday for the Highland Festival. Bear Truss in St. Louis had two loaded centerbeams. MAC in Breckenridge was empty. There was one boxcar on the siding in Breckenridge. There were no tank cars at Northwest Energy. There were five covered hoppers at the CPS fertilizer...

June 27 or 28 would be great. June 20 and 21 is Father's Day Weekend. That would be bad.

Heads up on the west side of the Huron and Eastern. HESR has a loaded unit grain train waiting at Hartsell Road just east of Elkton. Immediately behind the 8802 and 3865 was a CNW excess height box followed by 50+ covered hoppers. I was with the wife and kid on our way to dinner, so one quick pictur...

Considering that this is a railroad message board, you might want to think about the abbreviation NYC in those terms. I will let you figure it out.Honestly, why are you even here, and do you honestly expect us to believe you're from New York City?

Port Huron Dunn Paper Washout
The line to Dunn Paper in Port Huron is looking a little rough after Fridays storm blew through. The video shows the damage at the 58 second mark. http://www.thetimesherald.com/videos/ne ... /18321167/

MAC Breckenridge
We took a little trip to the Middle of the Mitten today and saw something interesting while passing through Breckenridge. The MAC elevator in town has what appears to be a very new Trackmobile. The last I remember, John Deere was handling the shuffling duties there. Does anyone know when this shiny ...
