I just cant believe they would accept that!!!!! They almost seem to be getting even more 'photography first - trains second' over there between the "Three points of light" and "Find the train" type of shots accepted lately - not to mention some of the more 'artistic' shots of track, signs, signals,...

MDH: if this helps at all: L63813 - LIME CITY OH QT 9 08-14-2008 05:27 Thanks! That was almost certainly him I saw this morning at 8AM parked at Oregon Rd. They finally went into Stanley a little bit ago. That also implies Q132 is off-schedule today (probably running late) and I may yet see it go b...

NS Operation Lifesaver train in Toledo yesterday (8/13/08)

Here's my best shot of it: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=246649 After running from Toledo to Bellevue and back they de-trained the passengers and then pushed back over the river and used the Miami Cut to wye the train before parking it on the 14 track by the depot. Sounded like anothe...

Jon,

I think there was another L638 parked at Oregon Rd. on the Toledo Branch this morning - the crew was hanging out on the ground and they were waiting to head into Stanley by appearances. Pure CSX power and another overcast day here though...

This morning on the way in I saw a train sitting on the Toledo Branch waiting to come up to or past Stanley with ES44 #5481 leading and a UP unit trailing. I'm curious what symbol train that was? It was a manifest and don't see many of those on the Branch any more since 636/637 were re-routed down t...

Don't know the answer to this - but K910-04 has a Conrail painted SD80MAC on the point! Worth going after that one!

NS OCS across Ohio yesterday (Thurs. 8/7)

Thanks to some help from Jon Q and others, I was able to be in the right place at the right time with considerable luck on the road traffic and weather to get this shot of the OCS between Fostoria and Bellevue:

Great shot Michael! Is it common that any train coming eastbound from the Toledo Sub has to wait for clearance into Stanley Yard? Everytime I'm down there with Jon they got something waiting at that spot west of Stanley Yard. I'd say very common. They use it for a hold-out for Stanley, especially n...

K38906 - WALBRIDGE UNION ST OH CDA113 08-06-2008 17:48 (didn't check quick enough, sorry MDH) No problem - I heard them in Walbridge on the scanner when I left but it sounded like they wouldn't be moving for a while and I had to get home. It was already cloudy and then it started raining a bit late...

As of yesterday (8/5) morning it was still sitting there: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=245580 The new one was tucked away in the shed and there were all of maybe three or four hopper cars up there (although last night I heard an NS job hauling a long cut of cars up there). I imagine ...

Wow. I don't think I could describe in words the horror of being randomly stabbed & decapitated by another passenger. Doesn't do much for the bus passenger stereotype!

Lead unit was a SD40-2 trailer was AC44. Considering that it was through Perrysburg at 5:30, It probably didn't leave the docks until after you left Vickers. That trailing AC44 wasn't CSX 99 by any chance was it? Chris, I can say with some confidence that you missed that one because it was after yo...

I like taking train pictures. Some come out good, some don't. Of the "good" ones, some are rp.net quality and many are "personal collection" quality. I have some pictures that I really like for one reason or another that simply aren't what rp.net looks for. I've even had pictures published in a maga...

Question about Romulus

This certainly seems like the right place to ask, so here's my question. I've been meaning to make a half day or day trip up from Toledo to Romulus (probably hitting Carleton on the way to or from). One of my main goals would be to see CP trains on NS (since I see CSX, NS, CN, UP & BNSF in Toledo bu...

For anyone who may care, Stanley Yard just released a CSX Z247 (CN 382?) with I think a CN SD75I leading at about 1PM to head up the Terminal for Lang Yard and beyond. More locally, a Conrail standard cab EMD was heading back to tack onto a NS 416 (PRB Coal train - probably with a pair of BNSF AC un...

Wow - looks really nice! I have some questions - what is the vertical clearance between your staging tracks and the yard above? What's it like to work on the staging tracks and deal with any problems there? What's your max grade? I'll have to check the exact measurements tonight at home and post la...
