Re: Cab Video: Amtrak 353 Hannan Rd collision

After impact the vehicle could have spun around and damaged the fuel tank? I know a certain someone on this board that had that happen to him lol

When I was in 3rd grade Conrail came to our school with a Operation Lifesaver presentation. I won a lantern...

I called a friend of mine to see if he has heard anything on his scanner, turns out he is on a trip to the other side of Jackson. On his way home he is going to check out BC.

Re: Save Our Trains Rally - August 22, 2009

I have an acquaintance that does photography for the Kalamazoo Gazette. About 5 years ago there was a rally like this at the station here in town. He took photos of it for the paper. He said 5x the people showed up to support Amtrak compared to the the anti war or other political rally's he had seen...

Re: Durand Sunday morning

Sunday night after 8:00 I was in Durand for a few minutes. Two of the guys in our group had never seen the depot, it is a must see piece of Michigan history. Roughly five people were photographing in the north west corner of the diamond and one person was just roaming all around that area, on CN pro...

Re: Freight Trains and Traffic Tickets

The village I live in police can issue a speeding ticket to a engineer....but they mail that in. Not sure who pays I would have to ask someone about that. Some pot head got run over by a locomotive about 6 years ago and the village ordinance is 40mph for rail traffic.

Re: Southern/Southwestern MI fanning....

There is track in Paw Paw, that is about it. I think you have to go to Heartford to see trains on that line, nothing operates into Paw Paw or east. There is a cool turn out in Paw Paw with a frog that is bolted on. Old signals, old trackage and old rolling stock have interested me more recently. And...

Re: More GTW, PC, CR Rolling Stock & CR U25B

Yes sir I do. I stock the 360 4bbl decal that was used from 72-74. They fit nice on most aftermarket chrome air cleaners. They are orange, white and black. 6.00 ea plus 3.00 for the post man.

Dont get fooled again

Oh don't be fooled, Kalamazoo is pretty lame for train watching lol It is a good place to get mugged, shot or hit up by a pan handler. Just south the CN line is much better. There is a diamond in Schoolcraft where the Nazi Southern and CN cross.

Planning for the future

Being that I am 24, most of my model rail roading friends are older than the hills. I have gotten to see the affects of aging on the eyes, I want to be able to see my trains when I am 50 lol. I gave N scale a 15 year run, that isn't to bad. My dad has boxes and boxes of HO he no longer uses, some of...

Rail Model Journal had an article on the ex PC now Kellogg's box cars around 2002 or 2003. Good reference for modeling. Sadly, I don't have that one in my collection.

Lafeaver Lake

The vegetation around Lefeaver lake has really over grown the past 10 years. It was a great spot for photos in the early 90`s. I grew up in Vicksburg and I don't even know if Sunset Lake has a public access. But if you want to multi-task (fish and spot trains) I would give Sunset lake a try.

And I missed it!

I was off dorking around rail fanning around Climax and I came back buy and photographed the Kalamazoo local job sitting at Pavilion around 4:20 today. I just wanted to go home because there was no action. I was about a mile from the accident site and had no idea until I read this!
