Re: Adrian & Blissfield reefer traffic?

I think it ended right before I started working there in 2010. That was such a cool railroad we routinely worked 12s down there doing 2 switches a day for EQ, FPT Boomer and Vesco Oil.

Re: (off topic) Hoonigan files for bankruptcy

I gotta wonder if that had anything to do with Ken Block the founder dying in that snowmobile accident a couple years ago.

Please don't go climb on any equipment and open doors. We have cameras up at the West Michigan and the Hamilton Northwestern that can be watched in realtime from our cellphones.

AARR, not sure if you are on Facebook or you have held up your resiliency over all these years, Nancy has a great couple of groups on that area on Facebook. She is out wandering around daily it seems finding new stuff. She even sells calendars of the CN crew every year.

Eagle Mine was doing a shut down for plant maintenance and upgrades for most of the month. Started just before the 4th of July. It was weird not seeing the mine trucks hustling back and fourth on US41 and 550.

He did the same o...

Re: Brighton MI's Former Industries

Bob, do you recall a place just west of Rickett Road that was repairing railcars? They claimed in one of the YouTube channels I follow it used to fix railcars. Troy Clogg bought it and turned it into a landscape supply yard. The 22 minute mark in the video Troy talks about the railcar part. https://...

WMI hasn’t handled tomato paste since 2015.
I had a can of ravioli on for lunch one day while hi-railing. Technically we handled tomato paste that day lol

There are already in a secure fenced in facility where they are.

And yet it still does not seem to stop buffs from trespassing.
But if they obeyed the signs we wouldn't have all that fun watching the camera footages of the sweatpants brigade.

Re: Abandoned Rails in the Flint Area

I grew up in Flint, albeit I left before you were born. The line that crossed I-75 was the former GTW main that at one time passed through downtown Flint. It was severed in the middle in preparation for the construction of I-475, as well as to get the tracks out of downtown Flint. Timeframe for thi...

I think apples are seasonal. Gogo will use local sourcing whenever possible.

Does tomato paste arrive in refrigerated boxcars or in regular boxcars?

It came in regular 50' box cars.

Re: Hamilton Northwestern Railroad Co.

I can’t help but wonder if someday the HNW will extend the siding back across Fillmore Rd. like it was in the past. I also wonder if the HNW will be required to put signals and crossing protection up at the Fillmore Rd. grade crossing. From the looks of it they can start unloading rail cars today. ...

King steel built a new track into their plant south of Baldwin along Holly Rd. You can only see the switch installed at Newark on Google Earth. The imagery is out of date. Even the new Magna plant is still a forest.

Re: ADBF/JAIL Changes Made Under New Ownership

There are a ton of places that upgraded the electronics on locomotives to try and make them better in the 80-s, 90s and early 2000s and when those places went out of business or came out with something else the systems become defunct and they stop supporting it. Most of your -2 locomotives are still...

Lucky me, I was stuck on Van Horn at flat rock while that train with the CP unit waited for an inbound to yard. 45 mins I sat there in my dump truck. I was figuring by the time I got loaded and back to the shop in Holly they would go by again but I never did see it.

There was a logging line near Sidnaw in the UP that was close to 20% I believe. There was an article on it in the 60s or 70s written by Clint Jones.
