New Paint C40-8 (finally!)

Even though i have boxes of projects waiting to be painted I had a new project take cuts in line. here is my almost finished CN C40-8 in the CN 15th anniversary scheme. All in all, same ol' paint but nice new logo. http://farm5.static.flickr...

Re: CN Orion Branch Back Open Plus New Customer
very interesting indeed. I will say though, its nice that they are using the line....could this be a measure to keep the rail from rusting? I made a drive up there yesterday night and made a few observations. 1. The CN yard in orion has a for sale sign near the gate, not sure how long its been there...

Re: CN Orion Branch Back Open Plus New Customer
Today at 3:30 train crossed the grade at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets heading north. I was at the mall but heard it pass, due to the size of the hill couldn't see if it was traveling light or with cars. I know this forum has said there are no cars being stored at the yard and the tracks have been ri...

Possible Surplus HO stuff
I am trying to "sort" mentally and physically through my storage room and know i have some items i will probably never use, but yet the hoarder in me doesn't quite want to get rid of it. Before i go to Ebay I just want to see if anybody here models steam era and is looking for reefer cars. I have an...

Re: New Caboose model
haha, i figured there would be no production run. When it comes down to it, how costly is such a project to undertake, not including your time? I'd have no idea even where to get trucks and wheels or any part you've used really to make a large scale model. I wish i were more handy. If you want to bu...

Re: Mi-Train
Does this irritate any other modeler of the local area? OFCOURSE, they had to buy loco's whose shell is only available though Kaslo shops and a pain to build... WHYYYYYYY!??? I do like it though.

PM Port Austin/Grindstone question
Hello everyone. I have been going to port austin since i was a kid and i'm fairly certain my family's cottage is on one of the old lines to Port Austin (now a dirt road) by the old shipping docks. I digress, I'm planning on modeling this area...i've looked everywhere (including the historical books ...

Re: New Layout Ideas
i read through that post. its nice to see people already working out the same problem...easier to learn from their mistakes! and their progress as well. Ironically, i have practically the same space, about 15x27. i'd really like to keep it a shelf...MAYBE one table peninsula...MAYBE. Thinking about ...

New Layout Ideas
So, after drawing my layout idea for what must be 5 years now my wife and i are now on a 5-year plan to move from our current home. Does this mean rush to build only to tear down in 5 years or wait another 5 years to start building? I think i've found a happy medium. While spending time this week in...

Re: I'm Back! New Decals (and old ones too) coming soon!
Which covered hoppers are we talking about Todd, the single-bay airslides or the blue grain cars that were 'stationed' in Iowa and only made it to home rails once on accident (mis-routed)?? I have a set for each of these somewhere in my basement; is it possible to use a set as a template to make mo...

Re: I'm Back! New Decals (and old ones too) coming soon!
Chris What do you have for the CM Units U boats or others ? I have all the U-boat numbers and GP38's pre HESR... although, I do have the HESR "rail america" decals, but not enough to sell, was a one time set up somebody did for me. In the future i will have the bloody nose unit and B units, perhaps...

Re: I'm Back! New Decals (and old ones too) coming soon!
Todd, do you have a good image of one of these hoppers? The only issue with custom short run decals is the up front cost i face in having them designed. Unfortunately 4 orders doesn't come close to just the fee for setting up the order let alone printing it. Since this is something that i do not mod...

Re: I'm Back! New Decals (and old ones too) coming soon!
sd70, i don't recall if you've ever purchased any decals from me in the past, but i'm sure those that have will tell you what lengths i go through to make sure they are as accurate as possible. my LSRC had 9 or 10 different road numbers, each unique. This HESR project is nothing in comparison. 201 h...
