Re: Railfanning on the CP Elgin Sub

In the late 2000's I lived about 5 miles north of Elgin for a while. I remember the pair of trains now numbered 252/253, but that was it for freight that I was able to catch. I recall CN running even fewer trains over the ex-Chicago Central between Munger and Rockford in the same time period, althou...

Re: Indiana Northeastern Customer List (Wiki)

They have a fairly active and responsive Facebook group. Check it out b I am not on FaceBook Imagine all the wonderful train photos you'd see if you were. We'd never see AARR on here again - he'd be too busy looking going through the various historical and current railroad groups looking at ...

I remember buying one of those insulators. Those meets were a lot of fun.

Re: What Design Table Legs Do You Use?

Find a module standard for the scale you're working in. You don't have to follow it exactly, but it will give you a pre-determined method of wiring (especially for DCC) and modules building. Many of the module standards are tried and true, and will give you a good starting point. Personally, I'm str...

Eastbound going through Imlay City. From the look of the signals, they're heading into the siding. CN 3089 and 3970. F/R.

Re: Sarnia, Ontario Switchers

The yellow one is from the Essex Terminal Railway, which operates in/around Windsor. The blue and white one looks like it could belong to one of the refineries or other large RR customers near Sarnia. They're probably getting some sort of maintenance work done or are in transit. It's strange that th...

Would you rather sit at a major junction and watch four trains an hour or chase a local switching customers?

I'd rather see 8 trains an hour. 4 sounds a lot like Durand on a really good day.

Would you rather see a unit train go by quickly or watch the mixed freight train crawl by?

Re: Would You Rather?

Just a few people. I've been to both types of churches and it's too easy to just show up to the standing room only service and leave afterwards without speaking to anyone than it is with just a few people. Would you rather see a train with freight cars you find interesting or a heritage unit running...

Hey sorry I posted that earlier around 18:30-40 and set my phone down. I’m in a rural area trying to wrap up a bbq so I can catch this thing.
Thanks for the clarification. I hope you get there in time to see it.

Granted. You break both legs and can't ride a bike for 6 months.

I wish CN 3115 really had been leading M397 out of the tunnel tonight.

Re: CN Train Location Updates: July 2022

WB just into Port Huron with CN 2273 and IC 2701 leading a mix of mostly autoracks, tankcars and covered hoppers. I don't know what the symbol is, but apparently it's not 397. This train is the only through train at Port Huron at the moment, as far as I can tell. WB M397 w CN 3115, BCOL HU leading, ...

...yes. It must be nice having a road so close to the track to chase the LSRC runs to Gaylord, when they run.

I wish the PH&D was still a short line railroad Granted, but it's really short, is no longer connected to the outside railroad and consists of a couple elderly men riding in a caboose behind an inoperable S1 reliving their glory days... I wish the G&W railroads still had their own identities and un...
