GTW Grand Rapids to Owosso Mainline

How many trains a day did the Grand Trunk Western run on their mainline between Owosso and Grand Rapids during the 1970's? What locos usually ran on this line and did that include any of their six-axles (SD-40)? Thanks, berkmeister.

Re: Elkhart Model Railroad Club Open House Aug. 7

A friend of mine who visited around 2:00 that afternoon told me he had to park 2 blocks away jus...

Re: Freight Traffic Split At Three Rivers

Todd, did the northbound auto parts train you're referring to traverse the Marion Branch here in Indiana? It makes sense for such a train starting in Indy to get off the former Big Four double-track mainline at Anderson and take the Branch (also originally the Big Four Michigan Division) to Elkhart,...

Freight Traffic Split At Three Rivers

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how many trains ran a day between Elkhart and Three Rivers during the NYC/PC days? And of these trains, how many went straight (north and south) through downtown Three Rivers directly to/from Kalamazoo instead of using the Air Line cut-off to the Elkhart Branch t...

Re: INER seeks to purchase MSO

Very good news indeed! I have checked out the Old Road on the east edge of Sturgis several times in recent years, kinda depressing seeing small trees and thick brush growing between the rails. I was always thinking why MSO/INE didn't intechange here at Sturgis, yet when INE purchased the MSO from Co...
